From an infrastructure point of view, you tend to have long lived (days/weeks) compute for streaming vs short(er) lived for batch jobs. This can heavily impact compute costs and architectural considerations, especially in the cloud.

There are many ways to implement both approaches, of course, and a plethora of frameworks from which to choose (or not).
