I read half the article and now I feel like some spaceship for a bunch of mitochondria.
Might as well question if we’re archaeon relatives holding bacteria, or bacterium relatives enveloped by archaea. As if, in our “true” nature is actually the cell around the mitochondria, or mitochondrion inside the cells. But that’s pseudo-philosophical babbling (meleosophia?) - we simply are.
