Yeah I never even got it to work because it fried my laptop trying to install it. Fuck system 76.

Good thing my DNS resolver and VPN aren’t american then huh?
I wish I could buy the Chinese competitor to Starlink and use it just so I could break even further away from all the surveillance. I’d never be able to afford a visit to China so why would I care?

You guys remember in I think Nice Dreams with Cheech and Chong where they put up the blue tarps over the plants and he acted like he was swimming?
I bet they start using tarps or building buildings around them to start hiding this kind of stuff.

If they were going to do that they would not have just made an announcement about google pay’s “zero knowledge proofs” being the only way to pay it.
It becomes more than a mild annoyance it becomes borderline suspicious to be quite honest. None of the other private app competitors have ever needed a phone number or payment and a lot of them let you self host too something signal is vehemently against.
Idk man. The phone number thing I could kind of understand but now the only way around it is a google pay payment? What the fuck is that? The fact that they won’t even accept their “super private” shitcoin is a huge red flag here to be completely honest. Just gonna call a spade a spade. Its a very strange choice from a privacy oriented service.
Its like using the Tor browser or something but you have to do a “zero knowledge proof” payment through google pay to access it. Would that make you feel comfortable? No? Then why are we acting like its ok for signal?
It’s weird.

You say “but its a Japanese company so I’m not surprised” but an American company would destroy their life too. Probably worse.

I’ll call it right now and bet they want 3DS supported cards. So no giftcards and no prepaid cards.
I use signal all the time but even I will admit some of the things they do don’t scream privacy conscious to me. This is one of those things.
For instance, no support for their shitty crypto no one ever uses? You know, the one they chose over an actual battle tested one like Monero? (Its basically a pump and dump, look at the all time chart on coingecko for Mobilecoin went from like $50 a coin to 0.07¢ now)
Nope. Just traceable cards or traceable phone numbers. Interesting choice. The lack of self hosting is also an interesting choice.
Way better than Telegram or Facebook or WhatsApp for sure for sure and I get all my friends to use signal but I do have doubts sometimes when I start to notice stuff like this.
People will get on here and say “only FEDS promote fud about signal!!” But honestly ask yourself if what you just read really aligns with privacy in any way. A lot of it does not.
Even the same people who hate crypto actively use signal which did its own pump and dump scheme. Its odd. And I wish an actual competitor would come out that isn’t based in another surveillance state like the UK.
Literally all the alternatives are from surveillance States. Every single one. All of them.
Idk man, I have doubts a lot.

They didn’t with Theranos it was the CEO and company president they went after.
Which they won’t do to Palantir because of the obvious interest in surveillance they both share.
They aren’t going to do anything to anyone about this. If they were they wouldn’t have tried scapegoating AI

Seems like they are blaming palantir. I see no names of the people who hit the button, at all.
They going to take all of palantir to court the next administration?

That was fucked up and they are wrong for that but if they keep going after feds I’m all for them.
Wish they could leak the Epstein files (without pics and vids).
Their talents were wasted on Canvas if they have this kind of capability.
Either that or, the FBI’s database just has ultra piss poor security which sounds about right anymore.

That won’t work though because the federal government doesn’t negotiate with terrorists*.
Instead, they do their negotiating with rich pedophiles.

“You see everyone, it wasn’t an evil action that we did to terrorize a group of people”
They even refer to it in this article as a “military targeting error” no. This is propaganda.

It isn’t enough to be privacy conscious. Now the spying follows you anywhere you have contact with other people

What they are not considering is the lack of store presence. All those digital code cards don’t grab the attention like discs do

They (say they are) are worried about national security. Like they don’t want it being able to somehow map all military bases or whatever.
That’s really a tall tale they are trying to sell though.
They don’t want a cheap competitor in the American markets and they don’t have a guarantee that Chinese companies will hand over data on a whim the way they can force American manufacturers to do.

Ahhh I understand. So it is the actual usuage of words in a specific order?
Well paraphrasing would probably solve this problem then wouldn’t it? Just paraphrase every line or paragraph saying the same thing but with different words
I was thinking it was an embedded watermark and if you just opened a text file and typed it all out on your own then it wouldn’t flag it

Losing bot followers is not the same as losing money and your livelihood I hope you can understand the difference between the two.

So they do sync it up to make me hit every single red light if I’m running late for work in the morning and speeding! /s
I bet it would be hard being a paranoid schizophrenic right now in this surveillance state that’s being manufactured.
Or maybe its liberating since it would all be true “See, I told you the television was listening to our conversations! Here’s an article about it in The NYT”
Wait until these kind of metrics of “rewardable” and “punishable” drivers shows up on your car insurance rates.
There’s always a dollar to be made with all this data they are harvesting and this is just a small beginning of a series of steps that are playing out far faster than I had ever dreamed they would.
Edit: you know I just thought about how it said begins rewarding drivers. That means they had to test this out for at the very least several months of getting all the data of “bad” and “good” drivers.
I seriously wonder what else they’ve tested out like that with traffic and whatnot. Mixed in with the surveillance in new vehicles 2027 and onward and this is going to get pretty wild

You’re talking about when they pulled out of France because the police of France said it was a criminal os?
I didn’t see where he said anything bad about that just that they had said that in a newspaper and they weren’t comfortable operating within the country anymore. I don’t blame them for that

He isn’t the main dude anymore is he? I thought he doesn’t make comments or posts any.ore after that whole fiasco and just does the software.
Has it stuck on system 76 screen and since the model I bought came with system 76s CFW you can’t just do a fresh install or you lose one of the entire selling points of the laptop because that will wipe the custom embedded firmware.
So I get to send my private laptop back to the company so they can fix it pretty much putting all of my data at risk by doing so.
Super shitty for a $2200 laptop to be honest
