  • I am curious, how is india and pakistan doing what they do best a cause for a global conflict? In the two last ones it was a bunch of european states tied together through silly treaties and pacts and a whole lot of countries coming together to stamp out the nazis, respectively.

India and pakistan are neighbors and essentially two sides of the same coin with different religions, and as far as i know have no defensive pacts with any major outside power. So even if they went to full blown war it would stay fairly confined to the region, no? Excluding considerations such as trade impact of course.

  • I agree that a lot of shows and movies, especially the more recent ones, have little rewatchability. You could always replace those with an armful of whatever is current and on your watchlist after you are done though.

And personally i have a couple of evergreens and classics i enjoy watching again now and then, and it is nice to know i always have something to watch even if i cant afford the subscription any more / the stuff i like gets region locked / fucking licensing pulls the rug. It also feels a little empowering to have my own stuff that really is just mine and nobody can revoke my viewing permissions, in the face of endless enshittification.

As for the media server, i am not tech savvy enough myself to run one so i just bought a large ass external drive. When i am away from home i just bring that thing and can watch my stuff on any computer and generally also tv i plug it into.

  • … Thats about it. Bazzite comes with everything you need to play games without much hassle pre installed. All the drivers, software to run windows games, various utilities such as key remapping, steam, and if desired you can even get emulators pre installed to play console games.

It also works with next to zero cli knowledge required which is great for anyone who may be coming from windows and is intimidated by that Linux facet. You can just slap it on a machine and generally things just work and you can start playing.

  • I’m a bazzite user for a good year now, and also a first time Linux user. My hardware is amd as well, and for me the experience has been great, the most annoying issues having been compatibility workarounds for windows software. I would definitely recommend you to join their discord for support.

A green screen of death does not sound healthy, even crashes or hard reboots have never produced something similar for me. To rule out hardware issues, can you install a windows copy and/or create a USB with a live Linux OS such as mint to compare? (For reference, some Linux distros are able to run entirely off a USB stick, albeit much slower due to the obvious bottleneck).

If all this checks out I would suggest either reinstalling bazzite off a verified iso (there is a function before installing to make sure there are no errors) or using another distro.
