I have never played XIII so I can’t say anything about it but X works for me because it is basically as linear as VII and IX, it just cuts the overworld parts.

It’s great. I like the additional characterization and the fighting. The only thing I miss are more open spaces but I know that that would be difficult to implement since the whole game takes place in Midgard.
