“I think checking for the GOG sp. z o.o signature is good enough but checking with AV can also be good. If the exe file has been tampered with, then the digital signature would be invalidated. If the bin files have been tampered with, then running the untampered exe will give the error: https://imgur.com/a/9e5lIZ7. They should be legit as long as it has the legit GOG digital signature. GOG has different signatures for older and newer games btw. You can use https://github.com/hippie68/gogcheck to check the games.”
What OS are you running? The only thing I can find is that it’s carried over from system settings. He was running Ubu so system settings are likely your issue.
Without context, the image isn’t that impressive. If nothing XP-related actually works and it’s just a display exercise, it’s just a 20-something year old skin import.
If absolutely everything works in the manner XP worked, then it’s incredibly impressive.
I don’t think it’s an uptick, it’s been around for as long as I’ve used the Fediverse.
I’ve never understood the mindset that this social site is made up of a different mix of personalities than any other. It’s not. There’s very nice people here and there’s very mean people here. Often, the very nice are quiet so you won’t always notice them but the meanest are usually very outspoken and everyone comes across something left by them. Hatred, ignorance and toxicity is not something that’s left at the door of the fediverse.
