The following has been my own experience:
On a pi, you’re much more likely to run out of memory than cpu compute. The increased memory gives you more concurrent things to run…images etc.
Back when I got them and they were just north of a 100 bucks it made a lot of sense. Not so much with current prices.
Having them tho, I really enjoy using them with poe. Their idle power draw is very low. Which is great for budget homelabs. But if I was looking for hardware today I’d look for used nucs.

Two things I’ve found that really help having more ram for on the pi’s:

I bought several of them when they were 120. But yea at current rate, not really worth it. I will say it’s nice running them off of PoE. Keeps my energy bill lower.

They don’t have a handful of companies financing each other in a giant game of venture-capital-human centipede that will topple the entire market when it goes belly up.

Yup! I love AI for banging out object models. I can give it a pdf listing the spec with what amounts to hundreds of member variables and getters setters. I can say “hey AI turn this into a class, use the GOF builder pattern, and boom it does it. Saves me hours of monotonous typing.

It’s a more complete dns server. You can more easily do dns over https, set up zones, and custom dns entries are a lot easier imo.
In summary it’s more focused on being dns, the ad blocking is a feature on top. You also don’t have to manually configure unbound for recursive dns like you do pi hole. Etc etc

I like technitium. Way better than pi hole.

It’s how I stay in touch with friends. I use Vesktop. Flatpak. Removes the tracking
Edit: appreciate the concern, but we talk about games and stuff. I’m not doing banking or personal shit on discord. If China records whatever is said, not too worried about PII

They have like half a trillion in debt. Profit is a pipe dream

Reminds me of the Mechanicus in 40k. “We just worship the machine and it does what we want it to. How does it work? No one knows!”

And there’s a backdoor in all their products
It’s curios if you used Prometheus as well

I know someone who’s atc. He described it as “very very slow Tetris, but when you misplace a piece someone dies.”

How would you compare fang to other arch and KDE based distros? Namely but not limited to EndeavourOS, CachyOS and Garuda.
Are you using any mods? First step would be to create a new instance in prism that is vanilla. Fire it up and see if it happens. If not, likely Mod related.

I heard of people using it on hobby projects.
Don’t know of any firm using it in production. Node.js never really had scale issues that needed addressing.
I’ve moved more towards deno recently. No real desire for bun on my end

It was a replacement for node.js and npm that was supposed to be faster and had other things built in like minifying and bundling iirc.

I’m an AI coding minimalist…like it for some tasks like creating unit tests and other tedium.
The bun saga of having AI do everything has been a fascinating horror show. Excited to see where it goes.
