I predict it will be even more somewhat lesser skilled white collar type office jobs. Like insurance adjusters and other insurance policy related jobs come to mind. AI will completely fuck this up. There will be massive lawsuits and these companies will go out of business. Same thing with other industries. Once they realize the massive fuckup they made, they will try to switch back but no one will be there available to come back. And then they are fucked. The more industries this happens to, the worse the crash will be as it affects many diverse industries. It’s a huge recipe for disasters, like Great Depression style. And with trump’s tarrifs to fan the flame, we are well on our way.

Companies operating in certain jurisdictions are subject to various forms of export control and other types of compliance policies when dealing with foreign entities. I’m sure this Russian company was aware of that when choosing Microsoft as their cloud provider. They probably should have chose a Russian cloud provider instead, though that might have exposed them to more of Putin’s corruption while protecting them from anti-Putin sanctions. Kind of a lose-lose either way for them I guess.

I’d expand it a bit further. Maybe 1999 to 2009. While Facebook did exist towards the end there, everyone’s grandmother wasn’t on it yet and they weren’t entirely intrusive and walled gardened. Forums still existed. Search engines still returned good results.
But it was the beginning of what would come. After 2009 it went downhill fast.

Yeah that’s fine. The steps were so simple I figured they could work without router config changes if they made some kind of connection handshake in a third party service’s server.

But given all that, I wonder if it makes sense to look into if your router has its own vpn server (or flash the firmware with one that does.)

Is wire guard a service you pay for? Otherwise how does wire guard in your home machine not need your router to forward ports to it? And then the remote client need to be pointed at your home’s external IP?
