As one of the comments mentioned, I think it has a lot to do with how much you need one to many voice communication.

With today’s world, data communication seems more necessary, and something like meshtastic, while currently quite limited in scope, might be something worth looking into.

Personally, ever since I heard of this store, I’ve not been interested. It just seems like another Google Play to me.

I understand that the developers have done some things to enhance the security such as app certificate pinning and such, but I cannot get over the fact that it’s a single source that any government can contact and pull down an app from.

I personally stick with fdroid because if they are forced by governments to pull down an app the app dev can launch their own onion repo without asking permission.

Correct, services cannot tell where you are coming from when you are using Tor. However, the service itself has no such protection.

With the crackdown that is occurring on the internet, I think everything is going to have to go into hidden services to remain censorship resistant.

Edit: I think it best to prepare for a world where the only use for the ClearNet is to download Tor, similar to how the only use for Microsoft Edge on Windows is to download Firefox.

Eventually, there may come a day where the clear net is just not used at all.

I do as much as I can over tor and hidden services make it even better since the service doesn’t know where you’re coming from and you don’t know where the service is.

I download podcasts over tor (antennapod), update apps over tor (fdroid), connect to my monero node over tor (various), chat over tor (Signal and SimpleX), and can connect to home assistant over tor. If I could get away with it, I would just direct all of my system traffic over tor all the time. Hell, the only reason I don’t is because I need to log into my bank sometimes.

Always good to have hidden services instead of having to go to the regular clearnet using Tor.

I can’t remember the exact model number. I can tell you that it’s from like 2010, but I can’t get more specific than that because I can’t remember the model right off hand. What I can say for sure is that with chromium it does not freeze and my fans also don’t run as hard.

I generally only keep one tab open at a time at max 2. I’m not one of those people who has a million different tabs open. Because I hate clutter.

I’m running Lineage OS and everything else runs fine. My RAM usage doesn’t seem to be the problem, or at least not that I can tell. I’ve looked under the system monitor and developer options and seen no problems.

First of all, isn’t that just a Firefox fork? I would think it would have the same problems. Although it may be better. For second, isn’t it only on desktop? It wouldn’t solve my phone problem.

Desktop is Linux Mint Debian and phone is Android 15. I know for a fact chromium works and does not freeze up my system on LMDE.
