I advocate for logical and consistent viewpoints on controversial topics. If you’re looking at my profile, I’ve probably made you mad by doing so.

Yeah, most quantum science at the moment is largely fraudulent. It’s not just Microsoft. It’s being developed because it’s being taught in business schools as the next big thing, not because anybody has any way to use it.
Any of the “quantum computers” you see in the news are nothing more than press releases about corporate emulators functioning how they think it might work if it did work, but it’s far too slow to be used for anything.
I’ve gone to my community and to specific posts, but can’t work out how to show downvotes. Can you shed a little light on how to see them please?
Yeah, that’s what I do as well. Seems much nicer than hurting their community by just randomly downvoting everything I don’t want to see.
No, sometimes it is about blocking.
If you run a small community like several of us do, even a small amount of downvotes can completely shut down a discussion from ever being seen by anyone else. It’s a way petty assholes have of trying to kill conversation in small communities because they don’t like something about what you said or how you said it.
If someone neither wants to contribute nor lurk, and merely drag down a community, they shouldn’t be allowed to continue to be a part of it at all.
I’d also like to know as I’m in the same boat you are. I’m just leaving this comment to remember to look later and see if you got an answer.
For anyone looking, someone Archive.org’d the final Win x64 compiled version:
What was the final build? I have 1.1.1402 on my PC.
They are? Where? I mod a Community and I’ve never seen anything that isn’t explicitly for Admins that can see them.
For my community ( !actual_discussion@lemmy.ca ) I would adore this as long as it’s available to Mods of the community the downvotes are in and Admins of that instance only. It should absolutely not be visible for normal users.
We are hit with downvotes nearly every time we post a new thread on anything even remotely controversial so it would really help us filter out people who simply downvote to bury the thread and contribute nothing whatsoever to the discussion.
If you disagree, we want to know why and discuss that with you. It’s the entire point of our Community.
Heck, we actively made it a rule to not downvote unless the user is not adding to the discussion, and that it should not be used as a disagree button. People generally ignore this, however.
That or just add the moderator option to disable downvotes for Communities. It would be an incredibly handy toggle.
EDIT: For an example as to why it should be implemented, see this post you’re currently viewing where I give reasons, how it’s been impacting us, some alternatives, and people hit the “fuck you” button with zero discussion and that’s all. This is the problem.
If I may ask, what would you be running if you had to pick today?
That’s what I hoped but the FAQ doesn’t say why. All it says is that it only accepts two clients, the S-tier ones on this list.
No problem! It’s actually part of the add torrent dialogue and is extremely convenient!
Does anybody know why Tixati is banned on private trackers? I switched from it quite a while ago but they didn’t really say why.
It can and has since I started using it about 3 years ago.
