Why the fuck is the AuDHD drive by audience taking potshot in a sentence equating it with creepiness and unwashed-ness?
Did one of us touch you in a bad spot or something else wrong with you?

It would be pretty trivial for their backend system to interpret the images server side and build an identification profile for each vehicle. This way, even if you remove your plate, your vehicle can be identified.
They already are.
That’s what Nightshift/OS whatever the fuck they changed the name to, the law enforcement portal that makes use of the camera feeds and cross references with/across the various law enforcement databases, empowers.
The publication briefly mentioned it obliquely, but the article is about the camera software itself and they’re being remarkably restrained in their reporting. To avoid legal challenges perhaps.

Really makes one wonder…How many fucking data points do these assholes need telling them we’re too fucking broke for their game and want their heads on pikes?

They’re not compatible, under the current paradigms. You’re not wrong, imo.
But neither is the commenter you’re replying to.
It ain’t going away, and as it is (in every respect from function to marketing to access) ‘AI’ is currently absolutely poisonous for mental development, no matter the age.
But that’s not inherently married to the way it will always be used.
Imo, the ban should be in place all the way in K-12, for no less than 5 years, and some resources devoted to enable school districts to engage the necessary mechanisms to assess how to marry the use of AI technology into educational use, with an actual thorough process in place to assess how and if it can be done in a manner beneficial to educational goals.
It’s not enough to have a techbro declare it the best thing in the world for learning, a child development psychologist declare it the worst thing to exist, and an education expert sitting between them looking anguished.
They need to all be locked in the same room, metaphorically speaking, and honestly arrive at a form that is meaningfully impactful to student outcomes (if one can be found), before it’s something that schools should attempt to use within the curriculum.
This post is cursed.
Not because of the insane jank, of course. That’s on brand for self host and I love it.
It is cursed because it has awakened something in me, and I can feel every old laptop in my vicinity trembling in fear.

Other poster isn’t being difficult, facetious, or provocative, btw. The scumbags have already done exactly that, in other US states, already. Often. The articles are all over Lemmy.
I don’t know if you’re spreading needed awareness of the lengths and conviction required, or if you’re fear mongering.
Your own link goes over why that approach is full of failings that prevent it from being an effective blanket control tool. A hardware backdoor is not the end all, be all. There’s mitigation and even effective action possible to ensure usability even on a device known to be compromised.
Then there’s the powered off Bluetooth beacons thing. Yes, trying to start the revolution with comms infrastructure reliant on off the shelf capitalist bounty is moronic, and it’s doubly so to attempt to operate it in an improper manner.
That does not make the enemy any more overwhelmingly strong than it makes the hypothetical freedom fighter overwhelmingly weak.
Here’s an easy protip for both concerns by the way: Get in on the old tech renaissance and get good at Tony Starking up your specific scraps up to a minimum level of interface capability with a modern stack that ain’t up yet but will. That will be the surface that the nerd brigades will need those who can connect to it on, to push back.
They can’t supply chain attack backwards through time, there’s too many garage sales to infiltrate and an early 00s flip-phone Frankensteined onto a cyber deck made of solder, glue, and spite doesn’t BT Beacon Snitch.
