Well I work from home so I do keep my room dark, I like to have a blanket over my shoulders, it’s not uncommon for me to just be in my underwear… Honestly I’m most of the way there

Okay so the dumb part is a lot of this is me abstracting away our complex build system. I’ve basically bubble-gummed a dedicated build system in top of it for only the tasks I do. At a certain point if I start adding configurations or timing I might as well just wrap it in gradle or something. But the system that I’m calling is already their attempt at simplifying another build system that’s underneath it that was written by the old guard using arcane sorcery. The whole thing is a mess

This is part of why I still have manual kickoffs for mine. Never need to worry about work getting done while I’m away or getting done suspiciously fast. Also they should have paid you lol, the dingdongs. Would cost a lot more just in work lost having someone else spend time deciphering and fixing it. They could always get someone else up to speed with the system after it is fixed by you so there’s little or no down time

Like half of my job is writing .bat files to automate stuff locally and not tell my boss that all I do anymore is double click the right things in the right order…

I’m here for the Morrowind vote. I do that for 12 hours already, willingly, with plenty of other things I could be doing. Maybe for the fun of it though I could grab some other games that are hard to run on modern machines, like the Neverhood

I made a wind chime once that I really loved. Had to dirty the plates because they could catch the sun well enough to vaporize your retinas

I know there are a lot of Godot tutorials out there, wondering if there are any you would specifically recommend though? I’ve got a lot of Unity experience but looking to move my personal projects to Godot

Tech in general but especially the game industry desperately needs to unionize. If the last couple years doesn’t convince tech bros they’re just as expendable as all the other working class out there, idk what will. Got to do something to insulate us from “restructures”, “rightsizing”, and “company resets”

Yeah it’s a bit of a shit show for sure. Unfortunately I do not have anything else lined up right now, I know that’s an unsafe decision. My life has been a mess lately I can only handle so much at once and finding different work is exhausting

Small correction they haven’t fired 25% of us yet, it is a work in progress

Unity employee here, idk anything specific about the departments that handle this I wouldn’t even know what their name is. With that caveat, I will say that all the layoffs last year going into this year, changing CEOs, and the competition between big company beurocracy and the dying breath of small company culture, a lot of departments are behaving erratically. I wouldn’t be surprised if nobody internally has a clear answer why this was banned but others aren’t. Some workers may legit be trying to help but their hands are tied for corporate or maybe even legal reasons, it could be people trying to keep their heads down and close tickets quickly to keep metrics up in the hopes they’re less likely to be fired. I think you all know this already but please don’t be too hard on the workers we’re doing what we can but it’s a corporate mess right now

Like 10 years ago I tried to set up Windows and Ubuntu to dual boot and fucked both their installs. Fun times trying to get my coding homework done without a backup machine though I’d probably have gotten a pass if I explained it was because I was busy learning about computers
