You’re kind of inspiring me to try carrying mine around again. I loved StreetPass - that element made the 3DS my favorite console. Just for the social aspect and the pure fun. I traveled a lot with it, had many friends that played with me, etc. Was such a cool console when I was a 10.

Yep, this exactly. They can never clock out at the end of the day. It isn’t 8 hours of work and you’re done. You’re having to constantly try to innovate. Make tons of content, spend so much time editing, constant filming, constant planning. And if you deviate in your schedule, or upload some content that isn’t interesting, the algorithm punishes you and you may even get people that unsubscribe.

Must be hell when you can’t afford to take a vacation from that content creator life. Can never really “switch off”. Plus the fact that less than 1% actually make it big, and it’s mostly based on luck plus years and years of determination.

If a wallet is not dormant in this scenario, then active users could just migrate their wallet to another wallet and then they’ll be good to go.

I hear this a lot but I don’t put any confidence behind it. This argument suggests that one day we’ll be able to brute force into lost wallets when we can break the encryption. Who knows how far in the future that will be.

But if I recall correctly, Bitcoin’s protocol is consensus driven. If there is an imminent threat of quantum computing, the developers could just improve the code base to resist it. Or fork the protocol to one that is resistant (Bitcoin 2). Then it’s up to 51% of the Bitcoin node operators to adopt the protocol. As soon as 51% of them upgrades, you immediately stop the threat.

I think the only reason Bitcoin is around is for two reasons: speculation, or the persons that actually believe it’s decentralised hard money free from control. I’d like to believe that there are a ton of people out there that run the BTC nodes to keep it decentralised. If there is an update that will resist quantum computing, I’m sure they’ll be eager to immediately upgrade their nodes and secure the network and those wallets. At least that’s how I believe it works, it’s been years since I first began researching it.

As an aside, Bitcoin isn’t for me because I hate the environment impact. I hope one day it will become green, because it’s never going to go away. But I don’t blame the people that believe in it. In a world where the rich own everything and control the rules, these people are trying to opt out I guess - use a form of money that can’t be easily controlled or censored. Granted it’s all based on speculation, and whenever we run out of Bitcoin is probably when the system will become useless. Spending is discouraged when you run out of coins, so I don’t know how the Bitcoiners defend that argument. So definitely not for me.

Depends on the game. For example I can’t get Persona 5 Strikers to run in Proton. No videos load or cutscenes. I’d I run it with Proton-GE (9.x), it works flawlessly.

I switched to Linux last year. I’m just a teacher but I’ve got pretty good techy skills having grown up in the late 80s with computers. Switching to Linux gave me some small problems at first, but everything works just fine for me. My husband’s been pretty curious seeing me have fun with it and mess around on my computer more. Maybe I’ll get him to switch one day too! 🙃

I only can answer your second question. You can redownload your purchases at any time. Music will remain in your library forever until one day licensing will take it away from you.

Qobuz has been very transparent - when you complete a purchase, they warn and recommend you to download it as soon as you can because license revocation can remove that music from your account. They’re my preferred platform for buying music.

As a hopefully former windows user (been on Linux full time only for ~45 days), that makes sense to me. As a Linux noob, it sounds like it would work?? Wish I knew, but I can say I love Linux Mint at least.

I’m a millennial with a weird sense of humour lol. I try to diversify what I can, so I love classic old timey movies. Gone with the wind is great, and this meme just popped in my head so I whipped it up. Side note - I like old Chaplin movies, even some silent films too! One thing I’m gonna try to do is watch the “top movie of every year” for every year that movies were made. Seems like a fun challenge and a way to explore stuff I’ve never seen. My spouse won’t participate because she’s not really a movie person, so it’ll be something I’ll have to tackle solo! Could be fun.

No issues with trackpad. Worked immediately once I set up the OS. It doesn’t have the multi touch gestures i was accumulated to. I can still two finger scroll through pages, but scrolling speed is a little too fast for me without the ability to modulate it. When I get some time to sit down with it I’ll research what ways I can tweak it, because native settings has no customisation.

WiFi worked flawless for me. I installed OS with Ethernet cable plugged in, opened Driver Manager app, and it detected an available Broadcom driver for me to install. Quick update and reboot later and WiFi was perfect.

I only know Broadcom driver was available for my 2012 MacBook Pro Mid Summer. If you don’t have Broadcom you’ll need to search online for compatible driver. I think someone else commented here they had a 2015 and it didn’t work out for them.

Darn, maybe it’s too new then, or maybe locked down drivers? Hopefully a solution opens up for Linux compatibility. Else, perhaps you can buy one of those miniature usb wi-fi dongles - a compromise for sure, but something to potentially consider.
