Same. I am one of the rare people who know the difference between i.e. and e.g. I know when to use a semicolon vs an em dash.
I no longer feel special; it feels wrong.

they get millions
Exactly their job. Their job is to take the blame. In exchange, they get millions to move on to someone else.
A CEOs main job is to be the fall guy when the company goes fubar.
Dear intelligent people:
Fuck you

If Trump is not allowed to run again, we certainly will see another violent insurrection.
This is assuming we will have a honest and fair election which, by all accounts, is looking less and less likely
You should know that there is no longer an official syncthing app and a clone has taken its place. It’s buggy but it works.
Permissions are a bit tricky to set up but I believe the clone app does it correctly by asking for full file browsing permissions.
AGPL sort of requires this and I’ve started to use it in projects that run on networks. The problem I’ve seen is that so many cloud providers use software with permissive licenses like MIT.
Honestly, more projects need to switch to licenses that require contributions back to the source if you publicly built upon it.
My company, for example, has a FOSS scanner and rejects any library that has copyleft provisions. I imagine most companies do. The corporate world would become absolutely fucked if every package decided to use GPL.
And just a reminder how one developer fucked over companies by removing his library from npm.
My only complaint with KeePass is that if any corruption occurs, your passwords are borked. I use KeePass for non-critical accounts, like Lemmy, etc. I don’t trust myself or the sync enough for storing my bank or other identity passwords.
Absolutely LOVE syncthing. I recently had to go on an emergency trip and was glad I set up syncthing on my phone but hated that I didn’t set it up properly on my laptop.
I feel like black is better at hiding detail. Women’s slips are black vs white for example.
Would you mind sharing your automation yaml for the garden lights? I’d love to do more with Bluetooth beacons but don’t know enough about how they work to do anything with them.
Honestly it’s a bit refreshing to see racism and ageism codified. Before there was no logic to it but now, it completely makes sense.

They wanted someone with experience, who can hit the ground running, but didn’t want to pay for it, either with cash or time.
You can only pick two.
I’m going to speculate:
I think what makes enshittification is “give users less and charge more”. It’s about returning shareholder value instead of customer value.
Netflix is a great example. They have pulled back on content, made password sharing more challenging, and increased cost. They still report increases in paying users.
They’ve done the math. They know they can take lost in users because they know they’ll make up for it. That’s the sad part in all of this.
This is a great compromise honestly. More OSS devs need to be paid for their work and if an anime character helps do that, I’m all for it.
The line demands you cut costs but also increase service.
The line demands it go up. It doesn’t care how you get there. In many cases, decreasing service while also cutting costs is the way to do it so long as line goes up.

ELI5: Torrents require a way to send data and that’s done through a port. Either you need to have a port available or someone else does. While you can upload without port forwarding, you’re more likely to get higher connections if you have it turned on.
You got to love conservatives and how they both use child pornography as a cudgel to attack drag queens (because they know their voters hate both drag queens and child predators) and then also protect their leaders because they know any accusation will hurt their political career.
