I always liked the concept of Matrix, and still actively use it, but there’s some serious jank.
I use Element as well as Beeper, which is at its core an Element client based on network bridging. I’m a big fan of Matrix, but it isn’t as approachable as other messaging services and requires some technical know-how to use effectively.
It seems like the Linux of messaging services.

Why wouldn’t they be? They made the decision to use (and continue using) AI.

I minimize air travel to the extent possible. Unfortunately I have non-local family so unless I choose to just not see them my choices are a bit limited.

I am not the arbiter of what is/isn’t wrong, but there are some general consensus among the public as well as pertinent legal frameworks.
There’s a difference between wearing a mask because you are engaging in wrongdoing and wearing a mask to prevent unjust retaliation. Even if the actual motive is the same, the implications are very different
The government has always had it out for protestors, to the extent that they’ll try and use agents provocateur to escalate the situation. They don’t want people to protest, they just want people to life back and take it. C’mon, you seriously asking this?

The former: to prevent government persecution and unfair retaliation. The latter: yes.
As much as I dig at Apple, this is a fair observation. However I will say that I have Android and have never actually used a 3rd party app store or felt the need to.

More technological stratification = more divide between the haves and the have nots. This applies both between nations but also between the various socioeconomic classes within nations. IOW, the rich will continue to get richer at the expense of everyone else.
