It depends on the focus I think, some anthropology careers do fall under STEM. But generally it’s not a STEM degree afaik.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for, but I missed the source data. That table also adds in an underemployment rate, which is a good reference too I think. Many of the degrees with the worst unemployment rates also have very high underemployment rates, meaning that many of the people in those degrees who do have jobs are only finding part time work or are stuck with jobs that don’t meet their qualifications.

While computer science/engineering does have a high unemployment rate, it’s underemployment rate is far better than the surrounding degrees. Taking that into consideration does make it seem like a better career than just the unemployment rate would suggest.

Other than anthropology, I think the rest of those are all STEM majors as well.

Opening up the controller and cleaning the joysticks directly might have actually made it worse. The joysticks have their own lubrication, if you clean the directly you can remove that and ruin them.

My experience has been that cleaning up the joysticks with the controller closed up is safe and generally fixes any drift or sticking buttons. Opening up the controller and trying to clean it with the same spray can be damaging and isn’t recommended.

And to be clear, the actual stick mechanism can break down and cause drift too. But every case of joycon drift I’ve ever seen between my couple sets and friends’ sets were always fixed by a quick spray of cleaner.

I’m not claiming it’s a standard maintenance practice, most people won’t have the spray, and aren’t accustomed to needing to needing to maintain a joystick like that.

But it is truly a simple, cheap, easy fix for almost all cases of joystick drift (not just on joycons, but all controllers). I really think nintendo should have worked to spread the knowledge, and provided free cleaner to people with issues.

The drift that joycons get is almost always just caused by dirt/gunk under the joystick flaps. If you spray a little electrical cleaner up under the flaps it fixes the drift immediately. Might have to repeat it 1-2 times a year.

It’s always bothered me how big of deal joycon drift is when it has such an easy fix. Obviously it would be better if I didn’t happen at all, but it seems silly that people are throwing away good controllers that only needed a 5 second cleaning. Only thing I’ve ever had to replace any of my joycon controllers over is problems with the rail connections to the switch, where it swaps back and forth between wireless and direct connected. But my original 2016 joycons are still going strong, just stuck as wireless only joycons.

I learned a lot by using a less common distro (solus). When I would have a problem, the solutions I could find on forums or arch wiki wouldn’t apply to my distro directly, and I would have to look into the solution for long enough to understand what needed to change in order for the solution to work.

You can probably do this on any distro, just by not using commands you find online until you understand what they’re doing and why that might fix your problem. Arch wiki is a great resource for any distro, even though it won’t always be accurate for the distro you’re on.

I’d love to see Monolith games come natively to other platforms, but they’ve absolutely flourished under Nintendo so far. They’ve been given a lot of creative freedom with their own games, and also have had a lot of success as a support studio on the Legend of Zelda games, Splatoon games, and a lot of the other major games.

They also have a reputation for being one of the better japanese developers to work for, with overtime not normally being allowed. They also seem to give their employees easy development deadlines, with games like Xenoblade 3 releasing several months early (because they finished it early), and Xenoblade 1 remake having extra content, because they finished it early and used the remaining development time to work on other parts of the game.

One of my biggest pet peeves with corporate websites. It’s like they’re afraid that clearly stating what they do will prevent them from growing and doing other things as well. So instead they refuse to say anything coherent.

Some HOAs are better than others.

No, I straight up had two different installation media’s fail until I went back and shut down windows fully. I’ve never run into that before on an install before.

First I tried ZorinOS, and it would fail to even boot into the live environment. I tried multiple times and even made a new install media. Then I tried fedora silverblue, it would get into the install environment but couldn’t do any kind of partitioning etc to the drive. I then rebooted to windows, shut it down fully, and tried again. This time fedora could edit the drive partitions, and zorin could load the live environment and install.

Previously I’ve had issues with shared drives being locked by windows, but this was the first time I’ve ever had an install fail because windows wasn’t shutdown fully. I don’t usually dual boot these days either though (I was setting up this computer for family) so I figured maybe something had changed with newer versions of windows or device security.

Make sure windows was shut down all the way. Normally when you shutdown windows, it only hibernates and it locks it’s partitions to prevent editing. I tried installing Zorin for a family member recently, and it couldn’t install until I booted back into windows and shut it down fully.

To shutdown fully, in windows you need to either hold shift while clicking the shutdown button, or open the run box and run the command shutdown -s -t 00

It’s not like the current group of users is perfect either. There’s a lot of circlejerk opinions going around, and I’ve seen being get majorly downvoted for posting factual info that went against the “hivemind” opinion.
