I don’t know, I’ve been in some hot places but massive cooling towers tend to radiate a bit more (now I know what I’m reading about today) and a data center without the ability to pump heat outside isn’t going to make it a whole day before it’s toast.

Not necessarily disagreeing, just curious about how much heat is dispersed by the ones here.

Even the play store is sandboxed. Those stupid games covered in ads, no where near as bad when the app never has a network connection or access to any files outside its directory.

Yep, I have a box with all my cell phones (as well as my wife’s phones) going back to 2005 when I was able to get my first one. Man I miss my Razor v3 and the OG Motorola Droid, at least I can still look at them.

Still rocking a Pebble Steel from a decade ago, I tried a fitbit and Galaxy one but this Pebble has outlived them all. Thankfully I managed to find a silicon band for it when the leather one finally gave up on me.

I know you mentioned Nextcloud and if you happen to already be running it you can use the add-on/module/whatever called Secrets, its exactly what you describe. You make note, send link (can password protect if you want) and once its been viewed its gone.

I used Kodi for years (back before and during the XMBC - > Kodi shift) before moving to Plex, it was great (a pain for a good config, but once your clients have remote access and use a shared database its insane how good it can be) but Plex was touted for so long I figured I’d give it a try when I saw a good sale. I’ve been using it for the past 8 years or so but may go back to Kodi or Jellyfin.

I had the same experience, tried other stuff and eventually came back. Maybe I didn’t have redis and Maria setup right before but it’s much better for me this time around.

Totally not saying that’s what was up for you though, it’s not for everyone.

That definitely sounds like it could be a nice upgrade depending on well it could be filtered (I could see that spidering out pretty quickly if the things you follow interact a lot). Definitely something I’ll have to check out sometime, thanks again.

Honest question as I finally dusted back off my interest in RSS. With RSS I need to add the URL to my client and it periodically checks back to show me when new content is posted, does ActivityPub handle this differently? Like how does it know which sources to use without having to hunt down their AP feed and add it to a client?

I could totally be missing something super simple or implied.

I’m not the guy you asked, but I self-host it because I like a couple of the features (like making an org for house stuff, and sharing that with certain family members), it’s really awesome for OTP as well. I honestly don’t know which features are the paid ones because I went straight to Vaultwarden as I knew I wanted it in house (physically) and Bitwarden didn’t offer that.

It definitely helps. In GrapheneOS, Google Play Services can be installed, but it is sandboxed and doesn’t even have network access unless you allow it.

It solves so much more though, like through scoping you can give an app access to your contacts, or just specific contacts; to the app, those specific contacts are the only contacts that exist on your phone.

Less that the meme is older than them, probably more so they don’t realize why we torrent Linux iso’s.

I can pull down an ISO in seconds over torrent, whole it takes minutes over https. Also it’s nice to add some of the good stuff to the traffic, if only to pad all the illegal traffic with some legitimate stuff.

This totally isn’t what you’re asking for, but I absolutely love the 8bitdo adapter 2 thing (https://www.8bitdo.com/usb-wireless-adapter-2/) pair your DS4 controller to it and then just plug in the dongle. I haven’t found anything it doesn’t work on, but mainly I pop it between a pi3, pi400, and my LMDE desktop.

So handy.

All those examples have the company (the ISP in this case) choosing to hire someone, this would be more similar to:

If someone rents a hotel room, and then gets busted by the police for prostitution, is the hotel liable?

90 days is standard for “you’re code is fucked when someone presses this…”; if the issue is Dave left the keys in the parking lot and someone copied them, two weeks is more than enough time for them to recieve the notice, create a ticket to rotate the keys and a ticket to trigger an investigation (gotta document anytime an org fucks up so it doesn’t happen again, right?). Maybe I’m over simplifying it though, I don’t know how their org operates.
