Unclear from the article but, while a bit pedantic, this sounds more like it was potentially a DDoS attack rather than a proper “hack”.

Seems to be a kind of online conference. For being open source focused it’s opening is very salesy/buzzword salad-ish.
"Open protocols, not closed platforms. The Fediverse, Mastodon and ActivityPub. ATmosphere, Bluesky and AtProto. Human connections, not AI bots, nor fake news nor manipulative algorithms. New funding models. New forms of governance. Better trust and safety. Direct relationships to stakeholders and customers. Interoperability across social platforms everywhere, and so much more.
After a decade of stagnation, next-generation social media is breaking out of the closed silos and connecting the world into a global, open social web. It’s a wild world full of opportunity.
FediForum brings together the leading thinkers and doers who build this new Open Social Web."
Correct, it is mobile only. Unfortunately, I think I must be misunderstanding what you’re saying about the OP stuff. This is my view, the way I think about it at least, these are all “OPs”, ones with a plus sign next to the leftward arrow have comments.
And then if I tap, I get the op with its comments underneath it.
Try Fedilab, I think it will be more intuitive for you, unless I’m misunderstanding your frustration.
If you end up not liking WP, Drupal is another option. https://new.drupal.org/home. // https://www.drupal.org/project/activitypub
“A group of Israeli researchers explored the security of the Visual Studio Code marketplace and managed to “infect” over 100 organizations by trojanizing a copy of the popular 'Dracula Official theme to include risky code. Further research into the VSCode Marketplace found thousands of extensions with millions of installs.”
Sorry didn’t realize you were trying to connect the systems you mentioned, I thought this was a unified approach instead of them.
PRTG maybe? It’s free for 100 sensors.
Like the title says, it’s meant to be a Tumblr-esque experience.
I 100% salute your mom but raw capability isn’t even really the point. Realistically, your average person, let alone older person has absolutely zero interest in needing to touch a terminal. They want to live as close to auto-magic as they possibly can. I hate Apple but the idea that it “just works” is one of their primary selling points, right along side the whole status symbol thing. It’s not a right or wrong, just people being people.
So basically “NextDoor: Fediverse Edition”.
I’m not against but I think uptake will be difficult because, depending on your starting region you may be competing with an established product and because there is a heavy venn overlap between people who care about decentralization and those who care about privacy and wouldn’t want an app tracking and to some degree giving away their location.
(Clarity Edit: I have a cold, my ending was guessable , but technically gibberish.)
Every barrier that slows down attacks a little is worth it when you are trying to buy time so people can apply emergency updates. It’s not about stopping them from ever figuring it out.
While I’m told such places exist, I have yet to knowingly interact with a business officially doing this for employee computers.
And our national meming treasure, The Picard Maneuver.
You overestimate how seriously I’m taking this.
Federate, let them get a taste of sweet Lemmy content, then cut them off. Will make the Threads experience feel broken for native Threads users.
You talk about Deezer dropping features but then the ones you list are super basic things Deezer still does, so I think you need to go into a bit more detail regarding what you want out of this.
You should have some experience with a successful search on the topic before you try to pull the LMGTFY card. Looks dumb when it doesn’t work.
Well obviously, you can’t tempt fate with that name 24/7 without occasional repercussion.
It’s absolutely hacking those computer, just not the site. I just don’t want to get overly excited for something that doesn’t have much meat to it.
