English speakers can really enhance their vocabulary when they know French. English does have a lot of French words that most people don’t use anymore but if you use them, your vocabulary becomes off-the-charts intellectual.

I learned that word from my dad when I was a child. we kept a carafe in the refrigerator designated for water. It’s a wine carafe but can put anything in it. My dad was an alcoholic so he had a wine carafe and a lot of other alcohol-related accoutrements like beer steins.

You told someone to take a picture of you?
Someone took that picture of you. Which means that someone notices you enough to think you’re rad.
Anyway if someone was working on Lemmy while at prom, he would be my dream date. I’d rather be on Lemmy than at prom. Let’s go to a hotel and stare at our smartphones together.
Use ImagePipe. It lowers the res and thus saves data (you can control how much) and it removes all metadata from that image too (which is the main purpose of the app)
Why did you delete this? It sounds like good advice, is it wrong?
Do’h! ok done 😁
Thank you! I don’t have exactly the option but you put me in the right direction and I figured it out. Thank you!! got it down to 4.79 MB

I don’t recall being tripped up by the captcha’s, all I remember is that I would go through the whole process of establishing an account in an instance, and their response was infinite buffering and/or never sending me a confirmation email.
I’m so glad I finally got into Lemmy. Reddit was destroyed on July 1st but I couldn’t get into Lemmy until November because the instances were so fickle.
In the meantime I tried saidit but quickly discerned that most of the users there were just really bad Reddit rejects. like the worst of the worst Reddit rejects.
Glad Lemmy finally let me in.
I wasn’t
I’m not joking when I say our only sure way of escaping the machine is to get an off-grid cabin in the woods and no longer participate in the internet.
I can’t help being curious, who are these “Tolkien Estate” people? I want NAMES!
What I don’t understand is that any Joe schmo can upload to YouTube a licensed copyrighted song from another artist and post the lyrics with it and call it karaoke, and they get no copyright strikes whatsoever,
while one time I had a Phil Collins song playing in the background while bantering with my daughter, immediately after uploading it to YouTube they flagged & removed it for copyright infringement.
Why did the karaoke Joe schmo get away with it but I can’t even accidentally have a song playing in the background while I’m bantering with my daughter?
I would never buy that. I don’t need my phone to be any bigger than it already is. Using my phone with one hand is essential to my comfort.
This makes me feel uncomfortable.
