That said I had to run a program that detected my computer specs for a job interview recently, and they flagged my machine because I had just booted Windows in Virtual box so I could hopefully pass their test. Instead I had to borrow my spouses laptop, run the test then went back to using my computer for everything else once the test was over.

That said, you should never take a job that requires you to use your own hardware… But desperate times…

Edit: (Believe the last couple of times I did the installs through Lutris. I just picked the .exe and used the standard wine defaults for the install, then once it’s done I believe it worked fine by adding a game and pointing it to the .exe for the play file. Then if you feel like it you can switch to proton to see if you get better performance, but a Mint install with a Pentium Processor with 4gb of ram (HP touchsmart) was able to run it, so most anything should be able to use the standard wine setup just fine.)

Copyparty has been great for me for the less than a week or so I’ve used it. I copied a 44.8gb virtual machine there to get it to another machine earlier tonight just because I wanted to test a larger file. Came down on the other machine and worked fine. (Clearly this would have been easier to do by just making one folder shared on the receiving device or using a flash drive, but I was curious.

Comically enough I didn’t think about it long, I actually had it up and running on my jellyfin server by 11 this morning. Haven’t played with it much yet just set my router DNS to it.

So now it’s my jellyfin/Files/Caddy/DNS server. It’s an old HP laptop my spouse has that I just hard wired and remote into using RustDesk. Works great even though the network cards arent great, and most of the storage is just an external USB drive.

I’ve never tried Pihole but maybe I’ll try to set it up. What happens when ads try to play when it’s enabled? Are they just blank? Or if someone is watching a streaming service and an ad tries to come up what happens?

Also what happens if the device running Pihole goes down, as in if I have it running from an old device and it loses connection or restarts. Does everything just stop resolving names until it’s back up? (I assume that’s what happens like normal dns servers, but I’m trying to think of a device I have that won’t be shut off, my media server has a lot going on with it at the moment, and is far from my router, I should move it)

All the AI racks are Linux based and are built on Nvidia graphics. Meta and Google were ordering iterations of GB200’s ranging from $2-4million per rack. (Did some diagnosing issues on racks/servers that failed tests after coming off the assembly lines as a subcontractor). So I’m afraid you are right about moving the needle there.

Thank you so very much. I needed to transfer some files locally yesterday and didn’t have a NAS set up. So I thought I would quickly set up a samba share on my pop-os media server so my spouse (windows) and I (mint) could swap/store files on the fly in the future. It took me 25 minutes and I almost gave up because my config file was having issues.

How does one get rid of misinformation and tell it to not give real answers.
