After many weeks spend on downloading and installing various things for linux, he complains that he needs to download drivers for windows, a process that will take one afternoon or less. Makes sense. I understand that Linux is a tech toy for a techy, but pretend that somehow it is easier installation and setup than windows for average person is just dishonest. Even which flavor of linux one should install creates a stupor for non-tech person (or a person who never used linux).

  • It is copyright violation, not stealing. Yes, it is damaging to the content creator, under current economic and law structure, but it is not stealing. If you burn a house belonging to the content creator, you do not call it stealing, just because it is damaging to them. So, why do you insist on calling it stealing here?

On a side note, one can incision a society where there is no copyright. In that society it would be completely lawful and “non-damaging” to copy things. Copyright is an artificial construct that we choose to have, but it does not mean that we can not rejected (we, as in the whole society, not individual)

  • First, it is not just lemmy, it is the fediverse (replying to you from kbin.social - my preferred cup of tea). Second, I see that the mostly good people/posters are leaving Reddit, I do not see, for example, personal attacks when people disagree here in fediverse, I see no removed/moderated comments or posts. I am sure it happens here too, it is just so rare… it reminds me of the days of mass migration from digg. So, at least for now I think this is great, and it separates people who are ready to stand for principles from the rest. Welcome.
