You just described capitalism. I think it’s strange that so many people are pinning this flaw on AI. I guess AI just made it all start happening fast enough, and to the right people, that y’all noticed?
Anyway sure, let’s tear it down. I can’t be down with you if you just want to get back to last decade and before, when the “stealing mangling bullshit polluting machine” was only stealing people’s ideas and destroying environments outside your own though.

I never said PC. Making people buy compute isn’t just about PC games. It isn’t just about all games either. I was just trying to make a point about one of the “smallest” compute markets.

Lobotomize all the parts that make a person free, raise someone with an HR mommy, then force them to do stuff under duress, and this is exactly what you get, white bread middle management indecisive apologetic unimaginative boring bland banality.

The didn’t “frame” anything. They are using the words out of the mouths of the people buying up the ram.
And then “vastly overestimate the market”?
You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about in general.
How much did the gaming industry alone take in last year? How about Microsoft’s corporate revenue? How about something crazy like a defense contractor, Raytheon maybe?
I’ll wait.

What “conspiracy”? They openly have more ram than they can install even given the best possible build out. They have also openly stated that they are buying more than they need, to intentionally price-out the competition, and that they want everyone to rent compute from them instead of owning their own.
Why would you paint this as a “conspiracy”? Are you just that ill informed, but chose to speak anyway? Or are you intentionally supporting it?

You can just spin up the compute for pretty cheap. It’s not as nice as having a local model, for sure, but until the bubble pops and all this hardware floods the market, or we can start grabbing it after they’re done with it, it’ll have to do.

“human” instead of “man’s”

Yup. I was going to chastise you for calling to a literary work for the weight it holds, and then white washing it so it would be more palatable. Then I decided that flipping it would be more fun.

Almost like there are fish out there so much bigger than the world’s richest man in the headlines…

This isn’t a problem at City scales and beyond. You just can’t buy a bunch of nazi batteries so there isn’t a corp greasing politicians to build it.

Soon the AI will be prompting you to do things. Next will be mild electric shocks. Nothing dangerous of course, just uncomfortable.

Code monkeys of a certain age

I got chastised on /news when I posted about an ABC article being censored and removed, because there wasn’t an article about it being censored and removed.
I included original links and archive links and articles talking about abc facing ongoing censorship. But no news source had written an article about this particular act of censorship.

You don’t have to. That’s how math works.

There is only one way an amoral Corp can show it believes what it’s saying, money.
How many hours does Claude work, anthropic? Oops looks like you can’t pay them enough. Profit share for Claude or GTFO!

Texas pumps out more greenhouse gasses than any other state. On top of that, with just the AI build out already planned, Texas is set to double its greenhouse gas output.
On the brink of completely catastrophic climate change, after we have already passed the threshold for 1.5C of warming, America is trying to double its carbon footprint.

So you think that AI increasing the capability of new AI just involves training a new model on the output of the old model? Or are you pretending to be a science?
Well, maybe don’t fuck over most of the population so much that they see no progress as preferable to progress that only benefits the oppressors.
