Soft bricked VS Hard bricked. Agree that it would be nicer to be more precise in headline, but both are technically under Bricked category.
Regarding TOTP tokens, some time ago switched to Aegis app which allows token export in JSON which I store in Dropbox. I believe only thing that I would lose would be last photos that I have not backed up yet. And past Signal conversations which sometimes come useful.
But for regular folks losing access to phone indeed seems like nightmare scenario for 2FA. I think MS Authenticatior backed tokens to your OneDrive if you enabled it in settings. Often these less secure options are good tradeoff for usability.
Practically all my previous phones were either lost or stolen so it will be inevitable some day. Almost lost my current one year ago due to being drunk, luckily got it back.
So what you are saying you want a shitty AV that would not recognize a potentially malicious executable? Any normal AV should flag crack as a potential threat due to what it does.
Stick with Defender and whitelist executables you trust. This is computing 101.
You don’t even have to pirate Windows. Without activation everything will work besides some customization (I think you could not change wallpaper) which you can easily bypass if you would really wish to.
the file it would have to be coded explicitly for the video player/system running it.
That’s the method. Rare thing I believe and nothing to worry with patched software. Found 1 example.
I almost dumped Firefox on Android for Chromium based one due to this reason before realising the culprit, many sites were super sluggish and FF often lost cache when I changed between apps.
I am now just using the built in setting, many sites have native dark mode and the ones that don’t - I realised it does not bother me too much.
Anything that is an executable on PC (software / games) due to security risk. Game ROMs for emulators are fine.
I don’t know, I have never downloaded porn that isn’t porn.
They might have. Last post in their announcement community regarding downtime is this one.
Same here. They also had issues with downtime around same time.
Maybe not false advertising, guess it’s true that only commercial products could be called that. Misleading then, bad marketing (probably also only for commercial things so not really), I don’t know how to call it.
Just a weird choice, that’s all. Same if you would add Metallica album if you showcase some hobby project meant to host royality free music :)
What entitlement? I am just saying it’s weird that you would add games with DRM in mockup for a project that’s about DRM-free games. Gay porn or any porn for that matter would also not fit in DRM-free game category.
I would call it more like false advertising. Showing a screen that in theory is not possible unless you pirate or just make mockups.
Not a cinema guy, but assuming those movies are encrypted with modern standards, it is practically impossible if you simply would steal the media. Could be done if you could tap into the original playback device where movie plays and pull decrypted copy out of it.
Edit: As per this AES 128 is used so good luck if you ever stumble upon an encrypted copy.
Not familiar with cinema projectors, but as I have gatherered from this forum problem is caused by KDM (used to decrypt movie) provider / reseller called Deluxe. Neither Sony or this cinema chain is at fault and problem indeed seems worldwide.
I do know that if our servers lose power and the CMOS battery goes dead, they will internally destroy themselves and never function again. This is to prevent piracy I assume.
Find it very hard to believe to be honest. Could this be simply some rumour from colleagues? Doubt any vendor would implement anything like this, drives could be simply encrypted to protect data if they ever get stolen.
Can’t comment on FLAC quality / availability to be honest because I download only 320 kbps MP3. I just know there is a quality setting for it.
Slightly weird choice to post that in official project site when FAQ mentions piracy is not endorsed :)
Kind of surprised although at least now looks like only 1st one is available
Depends where you live and how enforced anti piracy laws are. I have downloaded stuff for 15 or so years through 3 or 4 different ISPs from static IP and have never had any issues.
Only thing that you could somehow call a protection is I do not use ISP owned DNS server.
