  • I played a few races with my sister at launch, then didn’t touch the game again until I had a couple of mates over the other week for a games night. We did all 8 cups and knockout races back to back. Because it was all one night everything blurred together, I honestly don’t remember what was a circuit race and what wasn’t, I don’t know if things were changing lap to lap like in Sonic Transformed or if it was moving us to different areas, I don’t know what the hell was going on at any point. There’s clearly so much there but it all felt so random which made it completely forgettable and so disappointing.

Then it wants me to do all this other disconnected stuff in free roam but from what I can tell it’s just 15-second challenges and there aren’t any races? And it doesn’t allow split screen either. Who plays Mario Kart alone?

  • I don’t think they do convey the same information.

“They don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.” US President Donald Trump delivered an extraordinary four-letter outburst as he criticised breaches of the Israel-Iran ceasefire. Trump aimed the bulk of his anger at Israel, saying he would try to avert further planned attacks.

All the summary has done is remove the quote. That part IS the news that’s being reported on, it matters just as much as the context.

Qatar was the “obvious choice” for Iranian retaliation against the US because it hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East while also acting as a trusted intermediary for Tehran, Al Jazeera’s Dorsa Jabbari explained after the missile attack near Doha.

This one has removed the source (which is fair enough if you think that’s not useful information, but I wouldn’t agree), one of the two reasons given, and the context. Someone who only sees this summary will have no idea what it’s about or how to look into it further, which means they’re going to have to read the (one sentence) article anyway.

As for paragraphs, yes. Text that looks like this

is not useful to anybody. I’m not reading this, you haven’t read this. It’s awful.

  • I finally managed to get into Breath of the Wild the other night after getting it on launch day and never enjoying it. I played 9 hours solid, then had to go to work for a few days, so I’m looking forward to going home more than usual.

Other than that, there’s the seemingly endless hunt for my last 3 Monster Hunter World achievements (only ~480 hours in, so I’m doing ok). Also, I’ve finally got around to trying Suicide Squad, and I kinda dig it so far. Just gotta clear my plate a bit for the PC release of FF16 in a few weeks, but I can almost guarantee I’ll be too stuck into either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom to play it.
