Isn’t Android open source? I like Linux, but I alternate being amazed by Linux and frustrated by how buggy the experience is. Everything on my Android phone / tablet just works effortlessly. But with Linux, it is a crap shoot. My Linux audio drivers kept popping my speakers and it took me hours to figure out the bug. Then when I run wine for a game it randomly thinks it doesn’t have enough storage space. Or how Chrome was having memory leaks. Or all the times I have had to use special bash commands or directly edit configuration files

Well, investing in public education, infrastructure, healthcare, and renewables isn’t immediately profitable and US capitalism doesn’t do anything unless the rich can immediately profit from it… So would it actually make any difference if the billionaire class gave up on LLM? I disagree. Sure, companies have a moral right to recoup their R&D costs on a console, but I fully reject the Divine Right of Shareholders. As long as the emulators aren’t sold for profit and no one is hurt, a multibillion dollar company like Nintendo has zero moral ground to tell us that we cannot emulate consoles that we have bought to play games that we also bought.

I grew up with ads in cable tv, but I never got used to them and I deep resent the emotional manipulation that ads attempt so I will turn a show / movie off if I can’t skip the ads. No show is worth being mind flayed by ads.

That is sort of like complaining that people think of the US when they hear “school shooting”: The US has something like 20% of the world’s prison population and we likely use complete solidarity confinement more than any every other (developed) country combined together… So the term is rightfully US centric because, like school shootings, solidary confinement is far more of an issue in America.
