  • yeah, I was running in a container with an RTX3050 backing it for transcoding, but it never really got to that point… I’ve debated a dedicated plex server, using NFS to pull from my TrueNAS… but I already have 5 servers running in my environment…my electric bill isn’t very friendly… ;-)

This was only a couple of months ago… I’ll try it again at some point…but I bought the Plex Pass back when it was like $49 for life… so I’m not hurting for anything. ;-)

  • For solar, a datacenter would require 7.5 million square feet of solar panels and around 2 gigawatt-hours of battery capacity to survive a year completely off grid, and that’s in perfect conditions.

Though it could be done with 11-12 3.4MW onshore wind turbines…

the “Average” datacenter requires 10Megawatts of power to run… That’s not taking into account that AI datacenters run 10-12x more power…

Nano-Nuclear is probably the best option for any of these…it’s constant, the fuel rods last decades, and it’s not weather dependent… Though I’d still have the batteries in the mix because no power source is 100% reliable.
