I feel like everyone here would like the same overall: not killing the planet, not build more data-centres in the middle of communities, and last but not least having a tool to assist and not to generate unreviewed slop.

I agree. I believe slop is here to stay and the only way is to filter it out. Wanna use AI? Good for you, the rest doesn’t need the slop and it should be filtered out by default / flagged as AI

If I may clarify / simplify on the answers:

• Contrary to the name, Pi Hole will run on most devices including a Raspberry Pi.
• With PI’s current prices I’d not advise on the purchase of a new one, but rather reuse / buy a second hand server / laptop / anything that can run Pi Hole Min Required Specs for Pi Hole
• After setting up Pi Hole you will need to change your current router’s DNS source to be the device that is running Pi Hole.

If some parts are not loading, check the top left of the address bar for some icons, by default LibreWolf blocks canvas and anything that can identify you, and you have to press on them to allow them to render the elements.

Security unfortunately implies more inconvenience, which is what companies like Google love, but if it was a lot friendlier it would probably be less safe.
