I like this. With so many posts highlighting the endhitification of tech, it is nice to point out the good parts. Social media is definitely getting better, so long as you make good choices and ignore the popular platforms. I have certainly found Lemmy discussions to be better than Reddit.
I’ve seen articles about using old tech to run new operating systems. I’m excited to check that out.
I don’t want the masses from Reddit to migrate to Lemmy. I want people currently on Lemmy to post and comment. More engagement is what we need. No one is going to move to Lemmy if they see the top posts are hours old with only 100 upvotes and no comments.
If they didn’t leave Reddit by now, they like the new Reddit experience.
Why is AI participating in human leisure activities? If it is so catastrophically energy dependant, AI shouldn’t be used to do things that brings us joy. It should be a tool to fix difficult things and make our lives easier.
We shouldn’t be forced to replace tech this frequently. If you are comfortable shelling out money for the next big thing that is on you. The rest of us want functioning products that last.
