Map data obtained and converted from other formats often ends up accidentally condensing labeling categories. One result is train tracks being categorized as generic roads instead of retaining their specific sub-heading. Another, unrelated to this, but common for people that play geo games is when forests and water areas end up being tagged as the wrong specific types.

I just grab an app that lets it increment by amounts other than 10%. Not as good, but doesn’t need root. If I gotta change the volume by alot, I drag the bar. Otherwise I just leave the button at 1% increments. Cuz yeah, my volume is like 1% to 5% most of the time, until I need to watch a youtube video, then it’s like 70%… then the next thing I do on my phone after the youtube video renders me temporarily deaf and everyone within a mile glares at me… and I turn my volume back down to 5% or less again.

Not sure why every single other thing on the phone uses a different standard for volume than video does… just a new loudness war I guess.

Some of the other race modes do involve “getting to” the next track. But if you think about it as just being a point to point race between each circuit race, then it’s not really “open world” per se.

The microsoft store sells games? I thought that was only used to occasionally update your xbox for pc controllers by grabbing the xbox accessories app. Never seen the microsoft store otherwise.

My concern is, part of the design of the app is to know when the user is underage and detect when they are sending a nude. While I appreciate them putting a ‘speed bump’ there… detecting that specific event could also be an attack vector. Hopefully, we can trust the company that removed “do no evil” from their mission statement to do no evil here…

I was really hoping for the hand-held virtual portal they had planned a few years ago. Assuming it got scrapped when 3DS didn’t do as well as they hoped. But yeah, basically the tech from the *new 3DS, upgraded to a bigger single screen with an imu so you could use the portal to control the in-game camera. And it would basically feel like you are looking through and holding an actual portal into the videogame world you are playing.

It’s possible to just do more easily/cheaply in VR now. But I still think a physical device doing it would surprise alot of people.

Yeah, but think about how cool the word velociraptor sounds… so really… they were probably right, and science is just gonna have to take the L on this one. Rename all the stuff so that retroactively jurassic park is right. Problem solved.

I have yet to get anything else to look or run as nice as virtual desktop, even stuff that lets you use higher bitrate just ends up bogging down the headsets decoder and not looking better while also having worse latency.

With VD I get a nice looking game at or below 30ms total latency.

And when I play from my computer while at my brother’s or friends houses, it’s 36ms or less latency, but otherwise looks the same.

And of course, when using the actual desktop mode instead of playing VR games, it’s an even bigger leap over the other options. Like <6ms latency, <12ms from other peoples houses. And two 4k 120hz screens, that actually look 4k, despite only having enough physical pixels to support 1440p at the 80 degree fov I have my monitors take up. But since every frame renders a slightly different set of pixels, you basically get a free sort of temporal anti-aliasing that effectively up-scales the resolution of the screen enough to see all the detail the real 4k screen is showing. Not every frame, but enough that your brain sees it anyway.

Mario games have remained consistently fun, you just stopped being within the demographic.

We can always crawl further in to hide from scary normal people, but the normal people need this type of platform too. We can just subscribe to our nerdy communities and stop browsing all or everything once there is too much stuff to browse that way anyway.

Umm… not sure you are aware that non-profits still pay their employees. Non-profit is a pretty common way of running a business. All it means is there is no incentive to make more money than is necessary for the companies needs. Any extra income is just re-invested in the company or donated to charity if un-needed.

Basically just means there’s no need to look for more ways to squeeze money out of the customers if they are already happy. And prioritizing usefulness rather than bloating the software is incentivised.

Maybe I missed some context to the question, but I didn’t know my ideal social media platform had to be something that already existed.

If we’re talking about my dream, that is my dream. A platform that isn’t trying to make money. It’s not wrong to want to make money, but a platform that is trying to make money isn’t my dream platform.
