Nope. It’s you and me, buddy. They learned from a fancy talker and a drunk. That’s why they just make shit up.

Not only that, they’ll get louder claiming they’re being oppressed. Ignore them.
5g is fine (not great, but fine) on my phone until I get millimeter wave. The mw in the HEB parking lot down the street is amazing. If I get into the city proper it’s a crapshoot if I am able to get on the Internet.
Case in point: the downvotes are from people who don’t know or care about the difference.
Depends on what you’re calling AI. LLMs (and generative AI in general) are garbage for all those things, and most things in general (all things if you take their cost into account). Machine Learning and expert systems can do at least some of that.
I absolutely hate that generative AI is being marketed as though it’s deep learning instead of a fancy Markov chain. But I think I’ve lost the battle over that nomenclature.
With disabled hardware decoding.
I’ve had to explain to three different people that they’re not getting a production window on Christmas Eve. I’m the only person in the office from the day after Christmas until January 2.
I remember playing that when it was Nexuiz (the first time). I may have to crank it up again now that I’ve been reminded of it.
Depends on the size, how you have them processed, and how much of the backstrap you raid before it even gets to the processor.
Since whitetail are small and backstrap is delicious, yeah.
Local demographic here, and it’s deer hunting season. I can corroborate this.
people struggle with the concept of federation and picking a server
This is a HUGE reason. I didn’t know when I first signed up for Lemmy that I was on what is essentially a tankie instance. I didn’t know when I signed up for Pixelfed that I wasn’t going to be able to see shit because the first server I signed up for wasn’t really federated with anyone and I’ve mostly given up on it. I still can’t see a bunch of stuff on Mastodon without switching through several accounts with no rhyme or reason.
I’ve said before that I obviously like it here because I’m using the services, but it’s not easy. Most people don’t know about the fediverse, and most of those that do want to be passive about maintaining their social media. Most of the fediverse is built for nerds.
Defederation makes it so that figuring out which instance to sign up with in order to see your friends and local businesses (since we’re talking about vs Facebook instead of Twitter or Reddit) would be a nightmare for the average person.
I have multiple accounts on some services trying to get to everything I want to see. I mostly gave up on Pixelfed. My main Mastodon account can see people on other instances but has problems seeing their posts. And I’m absolutely not willing to troubleshoot it because between work, a social life, and other hobbies I just don’t have the time or give a shit.
I like the fediverse. I’m here. I use it. But I’m only going to use what’s convenient and I promise that I have more patience than the average non tech person who wants to sign up using a linked Gmail account and see all the things they expect to see without having to think about it.
Edit: I think my brain skipped the last two sentences in that comment. I just sat here and bitched about something that was already mentioned. I have brought nothing to this discussion and have brought shame upon my house.
I don’t know if you’re right or if you’re trying to sell me something, but you sound knowledgeable so I’m in. Where do I send my cash?
Yeah, but I need to know what the one after AI is going to be so I can get in on the ground floor.
Is that the MMO where they read Ready Player One and said “Yep, I’m ready to build a mesh peer-to-peer MMO because that means there will be no discernable lag for an infinite number of people, just like in the book”?
I’m considering stealing your comment and selling it to the highest bidder. How much ether do you think it would take to knock you out?
And a big part of Ram drivers’ culture.
I do not know how true it is, but I’ve heard that some of them will create a mesh network if your neighbor has the same brand and it’s connected to the internet.
I’ve always meant to look into it but I have big dumb TVs that work for now.
Jokes on her. I have forgotten all the good information I had back when I held a clearance and I’m incredibly boring.
