Enterprise-grade usually has enterprise-grade power consumption. From the power saving alone you can buy nice stuff.

Nop, I don’t have a 4k library. To be honest, my TV doesn’t even know what HD ready is. It can handle 1080i, but full HD, nop. (And I already have a hard time seeing the difference between 720p and 1080p)

Depends on the setup. On my stereo it’s sometimes close, but always recognizable to me. (And yes, sometimes digital sounds more pleasing) On an average stereo, most just won’t hear the difference.

The biggest factors to tell analog from digital are

• quality of the source. (Bad recordings can sound better digital then analog or there is no difference)
• quality and training of the ears. (Aging limits the frequencies people hear, dropping the top well below CDs max of 22.1 khz)
• quality of the stereo. (Mostly the speakers)
• environment noise.

You need to include the files in the zone file. Bind 9.18.18 is a mess with the changed DNSSEC setup, it broke my domains as well. I’t isn the bind documentation, so I have to refer you there. I have no access to my setup now (or my browser history) as I’m not at my computer.

Edit: managed to get in dns.

named.conf.local: zonefile needa to be the .signed file the unsigned zone file must have both keys included, best is via absolute path:

$INCLUDE "/etc/bind/keys/example.com.123456.key"

for both the ZSK and KSK keys. The include is to get the RRSIG entries.

Yep, so you still need the old mediums. Also, analog sounds different from digital unless you take a very high sampling rate. (Some hear the diffeeence, same like some see the differense between HD and 4K and some don’t)

I own every outdated medium (alas, need to repair the 8-tracks) and the devices to use them. They hold music that’s most of the times not available via any other method.

The content is more valuable to me then the type of medium.

I haven’t bought new media in years. Last time I bougth new they were LP records, new pressings. For movies I just download or buy used, for music I almost always buy used and from time to time new when I really want to support the artist.

Yhe problem with limiting yourself to either pirate or just 1 type of medium is that you miss out on good stuff. At this moment I have music from every decade between 1890 and 2020 on LP, of which most will never be available digitally.

I already had games tell me I couldn’t spend when I didn’t order anything, so I’m good this way. No payment method linked to my account without a clear intent to spend that exact moment. Link paypal, spend, unlink paypal works perfectly. (or else when I have cash, buy a giftcard when the amount is close enough to what I want to spend.

I’ve setup my email via a VPN to my own server.

• DNS, mail, business web, cusromer web on VPSes (2, 1 primary, 1 secondary DNS only)
• Personal email, incoming and outgoing via VPS, personal websites (all static) on local system (RPi 4 8GB)

This gives the advantage that your outgoing email always comes from the VPS ip address (pick a VPS provider that is trusted) and when your line is down, incoming email is cached on your VPS. It’s a tad of double work, but pretty secure. Even connecting to my employer to work from home is not a big issue. (and that connection is limited to it’s own vlan)

Also, with this method, you can route the mail into your network via port 26 when 25 is blocked or even set an outgoing vpn to your VPS and route the email that way. You’ll be provider independent at home. (I even have a private ipv6 /48 via a tunnel broker)

You’ll need to work a lot on your knowledge though, without DNSSEC, SPF, DKIM and DMARC the big 2 (Google and hotmail) will refuse your email.

I’m running domoticz with an rflink interface for my rf433 devices. No clue if they support ESPHome, but you can check. It runs confined to my network.

I only game on mobile in games that are basically f2p. When I like something in that game or want to do a monthly pass I pay for that, once. I have deliberately no payment option what so ever linked to the mobile account as I don’t trust Google not to sneak in an unwanted payment. (Or a game fritzing out and doing a payment for me)

Yes, games are entertainment and just like TV/streaming, a subscription could be useful for die-hard gamers, but I see digital content being ‘sold’ for buyers to ‘own’ and then the bought items being removed to much. Corporate greed is spiraling out of control.

No need to limit yourself to US tld’s, country ones for funny domains can be stable as well. My domain koffie.nu (coffee.now in Dutch), registered in '98, is still going strong. I just hope the rising sealevel won’t wipe away the country any time soon.

I’d advice to look into ipv6 tunnels and try to get that working. Abandon ipv4 when your isp refuses to ipv6.

I’m not sure about the latter. I get drowsy when drunk and fall asleep. Others have a ‘bad drunk’ and get violent.

When searching, dots act as and, spaces as or (at least in qtorrent). The dots makes searching easier.

You could build something that prevents people from being offended. Let them answer simple questions like are you offenden by . If they answer yes, no allowed to join.

I get the feeling that more and more snowflakes are easily offended and the nastiness is partly trolling as they like to offend. (and sometimes the offended like to be offended)

Maybe the only solution is sulfuric acid. (or alcohol)
