For whatever it’s worth I have been using a Fairphone 5 in the US for over a year on T-Mobile.
You are allowed to record content like a broadcast though, which makes me wonder if that means that ripping is illegal, but piping it through a capture card isn’t?
Technically I’m half right and half wrong (I think). It’s not illegal to backup media that one owns, but it is illegal to break DRM/copy protection which is required to rip most physical media these days.
Suffice to say the legality of it is a cluster fuck, but the morality, in my opinion, is pretty clear. Fuck the corpos.
But it is legal in the country he lives in as well as the country YouTube is headquartered in.
You don’t sound like a very pleasant person to try and have a constructive conversation with.
God fucking damnit
I don’t know how it could possibly be implemented, but I wish there was some kind of application or token that ran on my devices that would track how much I visited or used various pieces of FOSS software and services and then at the end of every month would pay each one from a predefined amount of money I set for how much I think I can afford for all of it. Maybe before actually sending the payments it generates a report stating the breakdown and allowing me to tweak the percentages.
Likely a privacy nightmare even if entirely locally running, but would be sweet.
Good on you for owning up to it though. Cheers mate!
One of the cards dangles out, and you do sometimes have to file the SIM tray down a hair (just the tray the slot/phone is not modified at all). A lot of the ribbons have an adhesive back and just enough length to curve around the body of the phone so that it contours the phone and sticks to the back.
Since I kept my phone in a case it was essentially indistinguishable/seamless to me.
Below is a link to an example of the adapter I’m talking about.

So technically if a phone has a dual SIM slot where the second slot is shared between SD card or SIM, you can still use both SIMs and an SD card. There are little adapter ribbons that allow you to do so. One of my previous phones was a Huawei Mate 8 that I did that with.
And yet they still probably won’t allow any third party app to have access to RCS via an API. FFS.
My Fairphone 5 was easy to unlock.
Not just that, but they are actively hostile and hypocritical about it. Every 1-3 months they prevent RCS from working on rooted phones or phones running alternate ROMs. The fact that they spent so much time complaining that Apple wouldn’t comply with the “open” standard while limiting users’ options on their own platform is very frustrating.
It might be a bit overboard, but I have a Redmine instance running on my NAS that can likely do everything you want. Some out if the box, some with plugins. It’s pretty nice. If you don’t want to worry about installing it you can download a complete installer from Bitnami.
And as everyone knows, the key to accessibility is not having options or variations of any kind!
I just want the option to have my quick access icons be circular buttons and not this massive blob BS. I got pretty used to having like 20 (maybe a couple less) things that were all accessible from a single spot. It was nice.
What are you on about? Just because someone is in a minority doesn’t mean their preferences or desires are invalid. Infeasible maybe, but not invalid. There are all sorts of products made for people in a minority of some kind. I can’t imagine left handed versions of common right handed objects are an extremely lucrative market, but there are products that exist for those minorities.
Plus it’s not like minorities or majorities are ever static, things evolve and change over time. If no one ever voiced an opinion, how would anything ever change?
You can keep crying about people stating a preference, and I’ll be sure to keep reminding you they are as free say what they want as you are.

I could be completely wrong as it’s outside of my areas of competency, but my understanding is that the functionality was harder to achieve because of some technical reason due in part to Google/Alphabet fuckery. So another day ending in “y”.
