It’s really annoying when it’s pushed in our faces everywhere. For getting a quick image of something you specify, or help with some boilerplate text it can be pretty neat.

But apparently, using the tools already available to you is not a common skill these days :(

So, are you not understanding that other people work differently, or are you just not using that skill?

Besides offering different approaches for different preferences, there are clear benefits to the extra level of organization. As an additional exercise, try to picture someone using multiple windows and tab groups.

Not everyone operates on the basic level. Hell, why even have tabs? The OS can manage multiple windows, and you can use multiple desktops to achieve the same result without that bloat.

Still, if it’s small enough to transmit via any wireless connection they can easily keep the local copy.

Why not both? As Linux achieves more and more momentum, you are bound to see real change in how Microsoft treats its users.

Is the issue with the packaging, or that only an outdated version can be packaged?

He could fix the license, then people would push the up to date version and users wouldn’t report old bugs.

Of course, the idea is that there’s less risk of that the more people switch.

Americans voted for this. You can argue about the minutiae and the process, but that’s the gist of it.

To be fair, their system works incredibly well without heating the batteries up much, despite 80W and higher charging. Was one of the things I was skeptical about when buying a phone recently, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I was shocked when my new realme, which uses the same tech, didn’t even break 30°C while charging at 8+ Amps (should be around 80W). This was in a relatively warm room (25°C) and using the case that came with it, which surely doesn’t improve thermals. It gets warmer when charging from other sources with only 2-3A, like USB-PD or QuickCharge.

Coupled with the fact that it’s only accurate if you are constantly charging from below 15% to 100%, these are ranges that I rarely get my phone into.

AccuBattery needs a session to have 60% charged, so <20% to 80% works. Doesn’t need to be every single one. I actually asked support about it and they said this was the lowest percentage they were comfortable with. I was requesting to make it adjustable.

Accuracy of the measurement isn’t the entire point. I see the same issue, but since it helps track relative degradation over time it can still add value by giving more information when you suspect the capacity is getting worse.

I’ve tried it but it doesn’t click for me. I can be more efficient with a normal launcher.

Niagara Launcher did teach me how to improve my setup: if something isn’t important enough to be on the one and only home screen, it goes in the drawer. No more arranging folders for apps I rarely use.

It doesn’t relay all traffic, that’s a fallback if a connection can’t be established.

Does that sound like a lot to you?

Considering the use I got out of it, even if I switch to something else tomorrow, the cost for the lifetime pass was peanuts. I’m sure others making that decision based on the situation today will feel the same in a few years. If Plex seems like the best solution today it’s not going to fall off the cliff before $120 were worth it.

Not like FOSS projects are immune to bad decisions, and then you either fork it yourself or depend on unpaid volunteers to keep the version you like alive. There’s always some risk.

Please elaborate how you needed to “accommodate their cloud infrastructure setup”.

When I set my server up years ago all I did was log in on the web interface. Literally as simple as any other service.

I set Plex up as an inexperienced selfhoster in 2020 and it was easy.

You can also test if multiple monitors is having an effect.

Using sleep mode is a good idea anyways, regardless of idle draw.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro here. Battery health is at 88% after 3.5 years of solid daily use. So it’s certainly paying off, happy to see more and more devices offering a charge limit option now.

It just means they’ve survived the first part of the bathtub curve. To me that’s a bonus.
