yeah, that is why distrobox is lot of more flexible than nixos and hell even SteamOS support distrobox natively as well.
WSL1 does not required hypervisor and it is quite stable in my end
lots of softwares are missing in nix. distrobox with AUR is the best and safest option

Yeah before I use Ubuntu. my first exposure on Linux is Linux Mint and it seems Linux Mint support secure boot atm. if this gets worst. I will go back to linux Mint again

valve always recommends native deb and my experience with deb is flawless so far
I use Kubuntu LTS for 10 years with xorg and I have minimal issues so far and it is enjoyable than Windows
