A question on the self hosted app backups: Do you mean using synchronization functionalities that the apps themselves have built-in? Like using a contacts app that syncs the contacts via CardDav? Or do you actually synchronize the apps themselves with their app-specific data (like settings etc.)? Because if that is possible, I would be very interested!

The new requirements will “only” apply for “certified” Android devices. I’m pretty sure, devices running a custom ROM aren’t certified, especially if you don’t even have Google Services installed. Nevertheless, I’m looking forward to a bright future for Linux phones.
