Do we know for a fact that the models being used for US requests are the same as those used for foreign requests? If so, how do we know this?

Isn’t this simply a byproduct of the training data?
For conversations in US English or more generally sourced from USians that end up in training data, there will be supporters and deniers, as with any issue. Conversations about it outside of the US are likely to have far less conspiratorial support.
The model isn’t doing any critical thinking here… what mechanism would even support that under the hood? Feels like another thing that is only weird if you assume AI actually works like a human.

Tbh, I figured Apple taking their time on these was because they were trying to improve the engineering over the Android folding screen offerings.
Now I wonder if they just wait because everyone assumes Apple would try and make it better, and then they just sell a bunch + the Apple tax, even though it’s just as bad of a product. Like, the marketing team just saying: “wait a couple years”.

Not tone deaf, and not competitive. Saying you hear the demand for something does not mean you can do that thing.

Gentoo is the BDSM of Linux

Yay marketing! Look this is different because of a gimmick that you could easily have in any car!
I’d definitely say try it again. It’s been rock solid for me for about a year. Definitely had stability issues when it was newer.
I daily drive it on both of my main machines. Clean, simple, and the integration of tiling and non-tiling workflows is very nice. My go-to now.

These “small government conservatives” have been spineless for so long, it’s hard to remember anyone ever made the claim!

Don’t worry, everyone, this will be good old fashioned Euro fascism, none of this new shit

I use MPV, mostly because I like the simplicity of the on-screen interface.
But both are great players. No issues with VLC and it is a go-to if I ever have a file I can’t play otherwise (which is a vanishingly rare occurrence).

In a world where every product sucks due to years of cost cutting and shrinkflation, brands mean very little.

Eh, I see your point, but it feels pretty tongue-in-cheek to me. Steamroller is just a cool name that implies the thing is a workhorse.

The socialist shithole strikes again! Capitalists love loud ads.

Lol corporate thieves bitching about other corporate thieves is the funniest part of 2026

I mostly believe this, but I also believe it isn’t a negative for Valve.
The hate towards Valve right now is so fucking weird. Is it perfect? No. Are they actively contributing to projects which can break the M$ coalition? Yes.
Don’t let perfection be the enemy of progress, and accept the wins. When Valve actually becomes anticompetitive (big when), then speak up. Otherwise you have bigger fish to fry.
Here’s one: Microsoft itself. So tired of hearing shit about Valve from people still booting Windows every day.

my employer has been urging us to do as much as possible by hand
Now that is a palpable irony. So much disruption in this space so some investors could profit off of a tech they don’t even understand.

These people only care now because it’s actually affecting the bottom line.
Did they care when AAA pricing was lifted to $70 (base) as AAA quality took a nosedive? Did they care when “preordering” turned into “premium”? Did they care when microtransactions made some games into spend-to-win machines?
Hell, most of these clowns don’t even play games. Just more rich people putting on the hat they think they need to get away with a “hello, fellow gamers.”
Maybe the industry has a C-suite crisis.
How would one even measure this quantitatively?
Empty words from a man who doesn’t even seem to understand his own product.
