It prolly would have also happened with any other president, maybe just not that excessively. Billionaires will always have their way.

If this leads to more companies accepting Linux as a Desktop OS for their employees, I think this is actually a good move. Helps Linux to become more widespread, and maybe even non-IT people will get to know it better. This in turn could lead to more people using Linux in their private lives as well.

The explosion of the global population is also rather recent. Just 100 years ago global population was less than a quarter than it is today. And going back to the middle ages, earth didn’t even have half of a billion people. And resources for all those people need to come from somewhere, hard to do this without causing climate change.

Not really, prices for DDR4 “only” have doubled, whereas prices for DDR5 have quadrupled.

I swear those AI corpos could launch a nuke and get away with it smh
Buying used is per se not a bad idea, but the high RAM prices also mean more scammers, as it is now very profitable to scam people with fake RAM. And people need tech, so not a really an option to stop buying completely.
And I doubt prices would go down if consumers would stop buying or buying less RAM. The prices are high because the tech corporations are willing to buy RAM at basically any cost. Consumers are just a drop in the ocean at this point.

Because there is no advertisement for it? Thing is, if you don’t go actively looking for a Reddit Alternative, chance is you will never have heard of Lemmy. At least, that was the case for me.

US on the way to become a less free country than China lol

Literal NPCs lol. How can people be this financially illiterate? It’s like NOT consuming sth is an idea that never crosses their minds. Like they need to have everything, even if they don’t need it.
I hope people don’t actually give this thing agency
while it’s in its infancy
