well, no, there’s no amount of money the riaa/mpaa could pay them, which would justify the amounts lost to terminating services for everyone that’s pirating, lol, they’d go out of business

I got my S10 and Android 12, and I’m feeling fine (edit: they start making smart phones with removable storage, removable batteries, and a headphone jack, and i’d consider getting a later model, but there’s absolutely fucking zero that’s come out in the last 6 years I’ve had my S10 that I need, and a whole lot that I’d lose, so, fuck em, they’re doing this to themselves)
I don’t know about that but I sure do love your Israeli flag, man. Am YIsrael Chai!
Clap clap clap. Great explanation
well, sure, used one’s get the release borking fixed through updates before you get em, makes perfect sense
I wanna like Pixel, and they look enticing making the jump from Samsung, but every new release is borked somehow, every one, major borkage, battery, software, lenses, cameras, etc. Every single release. Borked. So, I’m probably not going to jump in just yet … again
same with my S10, at some point though app vendors will stop allowing their apps to run on our o/s and security versions, i think we still have a couple years before that happens, but eventually it’s going to happen, and on that day i will curse the gods
Galaxy S10 Android 12 UI 4.1 til the wheels come off (a.k.a banking/gpay apps stop working due to lack of latest security updates), there are no advances in the last 6 years that I’ve owned my phone which in any way have tempted me to throw out another thousand dollars for.
In six years I’ve one gone over the 1GB data plan, on two occasions, costing $15 each time for a total of $30. I’m perfectly happy with my Spectrum Mobile service.
My only issue with Spectrum Mobile is they recently raised my 1 GB monthly call AND data plan (which all but two months in the last 6 years i’ve gone over for an extra $15 a pop) from $14 to 19 dollars.
I bought and paid off a Galaxy S10 6 years ago. I’m golden.
I think of all the extra thousands of dollars I spent over the years having Verizon phones and service, feel like I won the lottery.
the more a fingerprint reader “allows” for oil, cuts, and any other change to the fingerprint it has stored, the more it becomes useless. the fingerprint is the key, the more the tech lets the lock change and morph the more insecure the lock becomes, and the more it will allow just about any key to work in it.
don’t knock tapping with a wiener, it’s all our origin story
Before the internet you would have to go to a library to read a book you didn’t want to purchase. Libraries are still a thing. You can still go there to borrow a book, read it, and return it, so that others can read it.
The only difference here is the magnitude of access, where publishers weren’t very concerned with at the local library level for token public good, but are very much now alarmed with, in that the internet can distribute content to everyone all the time, content they were very much hoping to continue to monetize.
It’s information gatekeeping, but no one is going to tell the publishing industry they might as well fold up shop and stop publishing because they can’t make any money at it any longer.
sure shocked the shit outta me, and a couple thousand of my friends, lol
yes. last week, as a matter of fact, lol. any other questions?

I got my S10 in my pocket, works perfectly, removable expandable 500 GB storage, headphone jack (that’s a fact), and has saved me thousands in buying a new phone, and that number just keeps going up every year
I see all these paltry nonsense “improvements” hahahahaha. Lipstick on a pig that’s pretty enough already.
mastodon : when you block another account they cease to exist and can no longer interact with your account at all ever
lemmy: when you block another account, the only thing that happens is you can no longer see or interact with that accounts past or future activity, though they can still see, vote, and comment under yours which, just like reddit, is ripe for abuse and doxxing
there can be no discussion of tolerance or free speech when there can be no way to block other abusive accounts from your content or you from harrasment
