they either installed some crappy copy like you said, or youtube had an anti-adblock update (that ublock devs patch very quickly) and they don’t know what happened, so they made up a story about the browser’s owner editing extensions in their addons page or whatever

i’ve always used uBlock Origin in firefox and it never showed any ads except for youtube a couple of times because of anti-adblock updates from youtube, that were quickly patched by ublock!

one day it was just gone and the release notes was about bug fixing, and i got really confused (i think i just didnt use ff for a while or it updated a bunch of versions at once)

nah in firefox those ads can be disabled by unchecking a checkbox, in windows it’s probably not just an easy to find checkbox and i bet after removing the ads they’ll just come back after an update.

it’s a secret only those who dare venture into the scary “settings menu” can learn about it. most don’t come back alive.
