10 TB? Is that not multiple hard-drives? Can you access the text-files while you host/serve them? Or are they compressed as zip files?

yeah an exit node would be the most dangerous
Postman shows it is under heavy load sometimes. Are there other trackers? I only found … https://ngosang.github.io/trackerslist/

i2p is the only tor for torrents I know of. a program i2psnark that comes with the java-version preinstalled specifically. You need to follow their setup instructions closely to get a functioning i2p you can interact with using a http-proxy setting in your web-browser.
I2P can only talk to other I2P users. There are far from enough users on it to reliably use it for P2P. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, it just never reached critical mass. The set-up process is probably too complicated for most potential users.
This is a bit of the chicken and egg problem. Has anyone here experience using or seeding i2p torrents? I would be interested in for example seeding Linux iso. I set it up
My 2cents how to seed :
then you can use i2psnark/Create a torrent in the web interface, and type the file-name of the file you want to seed over i2psnark. on Linux for me its in in /var/lib/i2p/.i2p/i2psnark
But sharing over it is another matter; you need a tracker for that, like postman, or the other one I have not tested yet.
I would love info/data-sheets about all the instances, that would make the decision process easier:
okay I will only torrent .txt
ascii-encoded files then and open them in nano, this will make me totally secure.
… And open all other files I download in a sandboxed-environment
I think it is okay, when otherwise this would be just a bland text-only post, and the image is small/ not attention grabbing.
movies, music and pdfs/ebooks should be “okay” to pirate though, since they are more read than executable programs, right …
Yeah conflicting ideologies may lead to a splinter-net… but this also can be just a matter of an instance users taste. This is part of the federated nature of lemmy that allows this to happen.
I noticed Alt-Text is far less popular on lemmy than on mastodon.social, not a fan, but maybe it has to do something with the User-Interface, and how obvious alt-text is made.
the year of the snake lemming
On a more serious note: I wonder if the year of Lemmy will never come. Constant de-federation and churn might splinter it again, much like distros did kinda splinter the Linux desktop.
you can already follow other users (i.e. watch their activity) via rss feeds. For example your accounts feed is https://slrpnk.net/feeds/u/LibertyLizard.xml?sort=New
I can paste that link into my rss reader (which is an external program or website), subscribing to your accounts feed, and stay updated about your activities that way.
My joke is so good, that you do not cry right now.
I found join the fediverse … https://jointhefediverse.net/join
alone we are strong … together lemmy may grow stronger
thank you!
I make only good jokes 💀
thank you for this post, did not know about the public forums list 😉
https://sopuli.xyz/c/fediverse@lemmy.world even-though this was 2 years ago: Meta changing the search results on their platform shows what responsibility they hold to the public. And how they could abuse it “theoretically”. In that sense this post is prophetic.
I thought they used the chat content already for training their model. Is that untrue? 2nd source: https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/06/openai-says-court-forcing-it-to-save-all-chatgpt-logs-is-a-privacy-nightmare/
Sou you can “opt out of training data sharing”, I guess for payment?
