I’ve never had the chance to actually try it on a phone(so only on vm) but Maemo Leste seemed really nice, pretty smooth even on a N900. It seems to be extremely unpopular though, can’t even find a recent video :/

I’m not sure about GTK4 but for GTK2 you use ~/.gtkrc-2.0 and for GTK3 ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
emacs is great, from your list it can do at least email/file management/file editing/git/piracy/python/web browser
I ran Trisquel 9 on my Dell T3600 desktop for a few years. I never noticed anything malfunctioning, but systemd was annoying so I switched to slackware15. My nvidia kepler gpu worked perfectly, and even my logitech webcam worked.
use your distros method of listing every installed package and modify it to be a install command
Looks fantastic, I’ll actually be trying this. Love how it doesn’t lock my files into some obscure format like seafiles.
any distro with lightweight wm would work. I’d try slackware with windowmaker or fvwm.
Alternatively you can try tinycore, it’s supposed to be blazing fast because the whold system runs on ram.
For web browsing try seamonkey with ematrix for blocking stuff.
During 2022~2024 I used a 2008 Macbook with 5400rpm HDD, 2.5GB ram and its CPU throttled to 800mhz on Slackware15 as my primary machine and it was perfectly usable.
I hope someone makes something like this that looks just like IO1.1
i guess this wouldn’t work on bsd then :/
I don’t. I just consider them compromised and block network connection. Usually that works fine unless it’s a ransomware or something…
slackware the og linux distro. super stable, sane package management etc. i’ve wanted to try void/arch/gentoo/crux for a pretty long time but still haven’t because this just works perfectly
like forcing snap or amazon search ads back in the day
might have something to do with SAF, idk why but android file operation especially with the default file manager is pretty weird. I tend to just use unzip on termux or total commander and it generally seems to work better…
where does this get the stream from?
i’ve heard MATE works well for accessibility, have you tried it?
is i2p torrent actually usable? last time i tried i2p itself was extremely slow and there was basically nothing to download, nobody seeding…
maybe you could try doing gpu passthrough for native performance
ADW 1.3.3.9/1.3.4.0 still works fine, at least till android 12 :)
I’m using ADW Launcher EX 1.3.4.0 which is about a decade old now.
10 years ago is like the skylake era. sure, those machines are still pretty quick. can’t really be directly compared to phones…
