But my question is, does it not count as being archived if it’s exactly the same message that’s posted to another platform that is archived?

Would that stop them from duplicating the information on other platforms?
How many bits is a /s mask?
Absence of moderation is in itself a form of censorship.
Forgetting points that were already made is something that I commonly encounter, but I just attribute that to people being generally forgetful. I don’t have any expectation of other people putting in much effort in rereading the whole thread before each response; so if someone forgets what was previously discussed, I’ll just respond with a summary and continue from there.
I think the idea is that you keep the layout as simple as possible such that you don’t need any code for it, css or otherwise.
The problem with the subscription feed is that it shows you every channel that you’re subscribed to. If I only want to see cooking videos for example, then it has to be through the standard YouTube recommendations page. What it needs is the ability to manually group channels and let us choose which set of channels we want to see.
Is your opposition to AI in general or generative AI? Because there’s absolutely no need for generative AI here.
I won’t have an opportunity to watch a video for a while, so maybe the answer is clearer with that context, but I don’t have it right now.
If the purpose of the bot is to help you find people to interact with, I think so. In my case, I’ve already made the space, but there’s no one to interact with. I don’t know if it’s a matter of no one on Lemmy having the same interests or that they don’t know that the community exists. A bot/person to redirect people there would at least rule out the possibility of the latter.
One of the problems with Lemmy right now is that it’s hard to find people with similar interests to connect and exchange ideas with. It doesn’t need to be perfectly optional, but an improvement would be nice.
Are there people who want to do it manually and capable of doing so? If so, that’ll be ideal, but otherwise, it’s a perfect use case for automation.
Fair take. I never considered AI to be “true intelligence”, but maybe that should be attributed to the vagueness of the term “intelligence”.
The “artificial” in AI appears to be losing its meaning the same way that “literally” is losing its original meaning.
I would just like to take this opportunity to plug a RL community I started: !reinforcement_learning@lemmy.ca
I haven’t been posting very much because I don’t know what others are interested in seeing, so it’d be nice to hear if anyone has input on that. The field is so big and everything within it is so niche that it feels like anything that’s interesting to me would basically only be interesting to me and probably also end up doxing me.
An interesting study I recall from my neuroscience classes is that we “decide” on what to do (or in this case, what to say) slightly before we’re aware of the decision, and then our brain comes up with a story about why we made that decision so that it feels like we have agency.
There’s no generally accepted answer. That’s the point.
Remember when we had mailing lists that basically acted like forums and group chats with your various friend groups that consisted of these long email chains?
The problem seems to be in treating all photographs as art and thinking about what the camera is doing at all. I’ve been filming so much of my every day life since my kid was born and it’s never gotten in the way of actually being present. Sure, the videos are often pointed off to the side and very shaky, and the subject may not even be in frame at all, but it still sufficiently captures the moment to be worthwhile. We take these videos to preserve memories, not for whatever artistic value they may have.
I would argue that it provides lots of value precisely because a programmer’s job is to think. Less time spent on brain-dead stuff means more time available to think.
Can’t we just stick to pinky swearing that I’m an adult?
