welp I guess time to open a codeberg account
fair point but given the direction US and UK are headed, something legal you do online can be illegal in a couple years with a face attached to that activity. What you mention is also bad (your face being in a face recognition database) but not as bad as that being attached to tons of behavioural data collected about you.
given that governments are now starting to make certain protests illegal, definitely not as bad as having your face in a database and your behaviour being mapped for suspicious illegal activity like criticising genocide.
Ermm I am here for a friend
written by a japanese maybe?
Even when the evidence is as clear as day, the company somehow found a way to bully the case to out of court settlements, probably in their own terms. Sounds very familiar yea.
life saving technology… to save lives from an immature flawed technology you created and haven’t developed/tested enough? hmm
Melinda Tankard Reist is conservative, religious and anti-abortion. Collective Shout has not made any statements leaning either right (such as anti-lgbtq or anti-abortion) or left (such as pro-lgbtq or pro non exploitative porn). It is a small charity yet and they are likely playing for the center to maximize its donations. If it ever becomes self-sustaining, it has a much higher chance of shifting right then left.
Corbin is starting one
I mean this is just writing a script to access a public database, this is not even exploiting a code vulnerability. So there is an area between digital number waterfalls on the screen and accessing a public database which I would consider more of hacking.
No I don’t but if the firebase sucks isn’t it devs job to be knowing this? They might have warned their supervisors and simply disregarded, that is also another possibility in which case the blame obviously goes to higher up not the devs.
Not to me, yes the app sucks, yes the use case of the app also sucks, yes devs are either super green or even mostly AI (these have been discussed extensively and I agree with all).
But can’t commend public release of such sensitive data in such a place. You can still bury this app and the company without compromising people’s sensitive data. Makes for less of a show and less opportunity to boast but yea.
Horrible practices by this app yes still can’t help but feel anon seems to think he is a hacker for writing a python script to scrape a public database. Also scold app devs for not dealing with sensitive information carefully, release them in the most vile online platform possible so you can boast about your average python scripting skills?
Impressive, I have always wanted to die in a car accident thanks Tesla!

Oh by the way, just conveniently, we have this new product which can take care of this problem for you.
And you are talking about obvious bugs. It likely will make erroneous judgements (because somewhere in its training data someone coded it that way) which will down the line lead to subtle problems that will wreck your system and cost you much more. Sure humans can also make the same mistakes but in the current state of affairs, an experienced software engineer/programmer has a much higher chance of catching such an error. With LLMs it is more hit and miss especially if it is a more niche topic.
Currently, it is an assistant tool (sometimes quite helpful, sometimes frustrating at best) not an autonomous coder. Any company that claims so is either a crook or also does not know much about coding.
I am now convinced this is how we will have the AI catastrophe.
“Do not ever use nuclear missiles without explicit order from a human.”
“Ok got it, I will only use non-nuclear missiles.”
five minutes later fires all nuclear missiles
you mean charge rich people more, poor people less or just charge desperate people more?
Alright let’s go then!
