Yeh, I’m allergic to wilfully being exploited and squeezed for any and all reasons.

Thanks!

This is a very apropos question these days.

MINISFORUM Mars Series MC560 … I will try to get around to provide a writeup and github. !remindme 1w

I build my own TV stack to replace my NVidia Shield. It’s way better… has a kick ass weather app with radar and wind lines. I can push notifications from any home assist or integrate with any api… integrates with Jellyfin… a photo sharing app I built… youtube is awesome. Super snappy. I gave one to my 80 year old Dad and it’s now his d daily driver. The only thing I cant do is get streaming 4k from Apple and HBOMax due to their drm.

I’m building my own email server. It receives mail, checks it for spam and forgery, stores it securely, lets apps read it, and sends outgoing mail. It handles a lot of domains on one system, with nothing important tied to a single machine, so parts can fail or restart without losing anything. It’s written in Rust… for safety, and I’m using AI heavily to write and test the code. It’s big, mostly because email has decades of standards and quirks, and every mail client has to work with it.

Check out minisforum.

Air fiber, nodes of wifi that dont follow power regulations. This may birth the next internet?

Thank you!

I created dboft.com (lemmy server) to try to recreate my reddit feed. They were requiring their mobile app… and thats a no go for me. BTW, I didn’t recreate my reddit feed… but I like whatever this community better.

I’m out. Moving my family … including my 81 year old parents to Proton. They can do it - we have already moved to signal … no issues.

Yup. This is the plan. This is also incomprehensible amount of wealth voting to upend the current world order. To all of the OLD MONEY … you better wake up, they will slaughter you soon after us.

Guy put Postgres on a 5400 rpm laptop drive, wondered why Immich took 24 seconds to load, then “discovered” a $20 SSD fixes it — 95x faster, stop the presses. The rest is him learning that a 100 Mbps Realtek port from 2011 is slow and a dual-core Celeron is bad at math.

Up. :)

I’m not familiar with all the servers architectures. Any of them written in php?

Could not find them … but, I found this one by freeCodeCamp.org easy to follow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfHHvmaMkcA

It was super late… ¯_(ツ)_/¯

They are asking for permission now?

Its still there - anyone using claude and asking about the elections can see it.

Consider it a tech demo, not a pitch. I’m using it to try things out. . Next I’d like to explore not storing passwords or email addresses at all, and running small local discriminative models to flag spam. This work will help me with other efforts in my life. That’s the extent of it… well other than having convos with people and trying not to panic that teh world is so crazy.

What I like about the fediverse is that we can talk, and nobody has to adopt anyone else’s interface, view or agenda to do it.
