It doesn’t even require a scan of your passport? Wow! That’s surprising.

That’s true on one hand, but on the other there are also family and friends with who we still want/need to communicate via the “normies” protocols, and it’s better to do it without explicit spyware on your phone (aka Play Services or Whatsapp). So yeah, it’s an absolutely ungrateful work what they’re doing, but huge thanks to them for that.

For those who got too excited by the title: read the original messages from the GrapheneOS. RCS de-facto is not an open technology, there’s a massive amount of work and multiple steps are needed to get anywhere near the proper independent implementation. It’s gonna be amazing if the GrapheneOS team pulls it off, but don’t get too excited about the release dates and its availability for other systems (e.g. Linux).

You believed Microslop once, that’s on them. You believed Microslop twice, that’s on you.

To bring a quite sexual robot to a classroom full of horny teenagers… Yeah, that would be a great lesson for them xD
Is Sally still available, btw? A friend of mine is interested…

Who in their sane mind uses Google Maps for hiking?! That shit can’t build a proper pedestrian route inside the city…

That will turn out just great.

Unless they completely ditch (or be forced to ditch) the developer notarization crap they’re pushing for, all these talks and “registered appstores” will stay just pure bullshit to distract you from what’s important: https://keepandroidopen.org/

Precisely. Take care of your kid, don’t offload your job to corporations, cause then it will become their kid, not yours.

No need to worry! Soon they’ll bring mandatory age/identity verifcation, and the kids won’t see such content randomly… they’ll be specifically targeted with it xD

No worries @sbeak, I just wanted to add a bit more to your comment for the people who don’t have experience with GrapheneOS or other FOSS ROMs. Also, now CalyxOS is back which it great :)

The problem with regulators is that they a) gladly suck corporate dicks, b) gladly opt-in for the same authoritarian methods of population control, and c) gladly ignore common sense altogether.

The only important question is: will it support GrapheneOS? Which we don’t yet have answer for.

Who could’ve thought that gender-washing companies are hostile to underrepresented genders? It’s almost as much of a surprise as that green-washing companies are hostile to the environment!

Surprise!

I think that would be the next step, once they get enough idiots to hook onto that shit. For now, I believe, the ads are only on the platforms to which they’ve already hooked everyone. But I’m also an optimist, huh xD

Great overview! One thing to add here is this amazing comparison of the afrorementioned options: https://eylenburg.github.io/android_comparison.htm
Regarding GrapheneOS, there are a few things that distinguish it from the rest:
