51·3 months agoHDR is not for the type, but for tge resolution: Transitioning from one color to another over 3000 pixels will often result in very visible steps where each region of one color ends and the next begins. HDR can reduce these steps significantly. You need HDR less, if you have only 1080p, regarless if OLED, LCD or whatever. But if you have 4K and the display fills a lot of your field of view (meaning it’s big or you’re close) it can become super annoying without HDR. Of course, some people don’t mind either way. Maybe check it by visiting a store and getting close to the displays. Ask them to switch HDR off and on.
7·4 months agoThe metaphor is off. It’s more like soneone steals the plans to your and thousands of similar houses from an architect, then builds a machine that builds houses like that from photos or drawings in seconds.

OpenTyrian is fullscreen, but easy to play with mouse. The player steers a tiny spaceship and it shoots when you hold down the mouse button. You can pause any time with Esc and it has even game speed settings and easter eggs.
Maybe check CPU frequency before and after.

41·9 months agoand proper trashing is actually really helpful, so you can trash files on encrypted volumes without leaking them to a unencrypted trash dir.
trashing saves time and has a more continous workflow, as you don’t have to confirm each file to prevent accidents, because you can restore if you deleted too much

I hope it might lead to a situation of dirty pics/vids not being a problem for the people in it any more, as it could be a deepfake. Like there were cases where a surfacing dirty pic was used for blackmail, ruined someones career or got them kicked out of some comittee, but since it could be fabrication now, I hope this will beva thing of the past, soon.
