It has been feeling more and more like the 1700s around here lately.

Browser too, and the whole activeX, and DirectX api system to practically force windows only development.
We got some similar shots too.
One more hurricane should do it.
Do they get separate electoral votes and their own governor then? Could be worth it. If only Democrats could control the weather.
Yup 5-6 floppies and if one failed you could try to go back and copy one, but usually had to start over.
I got the Mac copy of Photoshop 4 from my high school this way with .sit files. It was like second to last floppy that failed (probably an ok AOL disk) and I had to go back the next day and copy it again. But it worked!
Not long after that a friend of mine got a ZIP drive, but it wasn’t SCSI, so it didn’t work with my computer. I didn’t get one until college (essential for a graphic designer in the late 90s).
If you can find a playlist of videos you can download whole lists with ytdlp.
We have Lemmy communities already…
Do any of the bots that repost subreddits in Lemmy reverse and post Lemmy communities to reddit?
I’m sure Reddit would ban it if it noticed, but might be a way to attract users here for niche communities.
I think KEKA.app supports split archives. Haven’t used it in a while though.
Depends on if they digitized the YouTube vids from the original Betacam broadcast tapes.
I’m guessing a bit here, but it was a really dominant format at the time, and in the later years of the series, would have been a digital format at 720x486 resolution.
Images of smoking Eastern European jalopy intensifies.
Roller blades had four wheels though.
I vote for Threelies.
Sort of vaguely op-art. Or postmodern brutalist perhaps.
It could be a bit better thought out to improve readability and find a more pleasing interaction between the letter and logo elements, but it’s an interesting idea to explore further I think.
Nebula/curiosity stream maybe? Patreon is interesting for this too, and is helping a lot of podcasters and video creators (more) directly.
That’s when Unix (Mach kernel and FreeBSD) based OSX launched. It included command line and OOP development tools that really were a huge improvement over the previous OS 7-9.
I bought my first Mac a few years later 2003 because I needed a reliable laptop, there was no competition (anyone remember the Sony Viao?) in good laptops, unless you liked thinkpads with one nipple. Plus as a design student, I needed macromedia and Adobe products, and worked in my college’s computer lab managing Mac’s anyway.
Wow, so there are color, location and timing options that can be coded into these.
Sounds like something the VLC maintainers should add support for.
4 of these things actually happened this year, in New England too (where Randall at least used to live).
We had perfect clear skies for the eclipse in Maine, then a couple months later had visible Aurora on a clear night as well. All while the cicadas were around, though they weren’t very loud in my area.
Not all on one day, but pretty lucky in a year. My 6 year old’s expectations for celestial events are set pretty high now though.
Yeah I’m a pretty strong swimmer, grew up with a pool and set a record in freestyle at a high school pool when I was in 8th grade. I also grew up with twin cousin swim team guys to chase around the pool and play tag/dunk/wedgie/pants generally torture each other.
I’m also 6’3 and fairly strong, but waterpolo players are nuts. It’s a lot like lacrosse, where there are tons of dirty tricks that can be hidden from refs and really hurt. I played both sports a few times with seasoned players, never again. Especially lacrosse my elbows still hurt thinking about it 20 years ago.
If it was encoded as super low framerate 360deg video files and you just seek to the place in the stream that matches the coordinates, it could use kits stage and bandwidth than other solutions, but it’s still going to be a lot of bytes.
