I try to contribute to things getting better, with sourced information, OC and polite rational skepticism.
Disagreeing with a point ≠ supporting the opposite side, I support rationality.
Let’s discuss to make things better sustainably.
Always happy to question our beliefs.
I think he said that’s Tor.
Does this induce a current?
I have been using Deezer because it was local for me, France. At the beginning you could upload your own collection to share with others, it was fun. Now it’s basically the same as the others, I think it pays artists a little bit more than Spotify. Also just learned that it is now majorly owned by some US investment fund. 🫠 At least it’s not directly funding terminators yet?
You receive: Windows 95 theme on Xubuntu.
Reverse Saruman, the money he donated made him look white.
Any language is welcome, I post in English myself.
I created something similar here with French twist !cestlheuredugouter@jlai.lu, it should be cross posting compatible.
Reports about heavy drinkers are masking the core issue, there is simply no safe dose of alcohol drinking, the science is pretty solid now. One of the lastest official announcements picking up the scienctic consensus: https://www.sciencealert.com/there-is-no-safe-level-of-alcohol-consumption-us-surgeon-general-warns.

This kind of indirect bullying is kind of unavoidable online, because of the lack of direct contact, you don’t empathize much with the other sensitive being. Until we get that perfect education to civility that may happen in 2000 years if we still exist. Maybe one solution is to have strong rules and moderation about personal attacks. But then it’s the moderators that will get bullied for censorship and end up crucified on the power tripping bastard community.
It kinda works tbh. I could see that used in some dance song.
Visible post and comment scores are still going to produce some of this behavior. You may not have a total karma but people will still get dopamine from seeing their posts getting upvotes and be reinforced in doing the same again. So the same mechanisms of social pressure and uniformisation are at play. The worst being when people delete their minority opinion comments because of the downvote pressure.
Lemmy could pop their bubble of peace with politics and confrontation.
Because its root is ~Marxist techies, I think it takes many newbies by surprise and is not super enjoyable for the average user.
Compatible means Pixelfed group = Lemmy community?
Also, I suppose kids come to different parents for different areas of advice and / or differing relationships with their parents. Certainly that’s the case with my own kids.
If it is based on the gender of the parent, it could be a social construct that the Lemmy community may want to challenge.
When reading the description, I also thought about dads asking for advices from other dads, could it be both? Also, why not include moms with something like parentforaminute
?
For reference, Palantir are not the only ones to provide supposedly fancy UIs on top of data messes, there are many others like Talend, Datahaiku, Alteryx etc. Those platforms are not magic, they will still need a lot of little hands to wrangle the data mess to get it in a useful state, if there’s ever an actual motivation to do that, and it’s not all pretending to be “data driven”. Usually, the data engineering community hates those graphical tools that are designed to convince executives rather than help engineers because no UI can be as powerful as a code base in this field. Palantir is special in how they managed to convince the executives of the police and administrations.
