The best equivalent I can think of is as describing bicycling as vegan. Sure, some vegans do ride a bicycle, but it has jack shit to do with them being a vegan. And non-vegans ride them too.

Nihilism is not about making life harder, or sowing chaos, it’s about accepting that there’s no meaning to anything. Sowing chaos does not fit with that. It’s not that nihilism would forbid you from that (it’s a philosophy, not religion), but there’s nothing nihilistic about sowing chaos and destruction of society, so the naming is very wrong.

Well, I meant some kind of mainstream, financially sustainable market. Their phones are definitely overpriced, which is IMO precisely because of their smaller marketshare.

And yeah, their mobile division is definitely going down in the near-ish future unless something changes.

Their pre-smartphone era phones were simply amazing and even the early Android era phones were really great.

Ah, in that case it probably won’t work, the Android apps on SFOS don’t have access to Bluetooth, you would need a native one.

SFOS is fine, I like it, it’s smooth, has sleek UI and generally works very well, sans the occasional bugs. The Android layer is also splendid, though there are cases like this where it simply won’t work. Same with any app needing to pass SafetyNet checks which many bank apps do.

But if you’re lucky and you don’t need any app with hardware access and your bank doesn’t mind being ran on Google untested device, it’s really great!

I like Sony as well, but you’re right they never really found their place in the smartphone market. Which is a shame, their “dumb” phones were top notch.

Have you checked SailfishOS? Their Android-bridge is pretty decent, it might work well. If you tell me the app name, I can check whether it works or not.

True, if there’s a game I really, really want I buy on Steam/Epic. Found out there are very few games I really want to play that much, can think of only 2 I bought like that.

Speaking personally, it’s literally that. I used to pay for Netflix, HBO, Prime and Disney+, now I don’t pay for anything.

The reasons are quite simple:

• everything got more and more expensive
• some of the services started pushing ads down my throat even though I paid for them (usually the higher tier)

So I got back to torrenting + self-hosting (had to migrate from Plex to Jellyfin because even self-hosted solutions are turning to shit).

Or just buy on GOG and don’t buy Denuvo games.

Well, simply not possible. Might not be what you want to hear, but iOS simply isn’t for you if you’re not prepared to pay for pretty much everything.

Unlike Android there’s not a lot of good free stuff and you can’t pirate anything on iOS.

Well, that’s just a blog. WordPress comes to mind, though try not abusing it by installing too many plugins and transforming it to an abomination that takes 3 seconds to hack.

There are probably more modern alternatives, I personally wrote my own blog system that uses ActivityPub to synchronise with Lemmy and others.
