It’s pretty basic to understand why what you’re looking for doesn’t exist. Every instance that has rules for it’s own users will defederate from an instance that prides itself on breaking those rules. So you’re not going to find an instance that allows you to break the rules that most of the community agrees with while also being federated with everybody. You’d essentially have to create an entire alternate network.

Lemmy has a long way to go before eternal September to be sure. It’s once people don’t know individual commenters across the entire platform we might get there, but as is the regular users are unlikely to get drowned out anytime soon.

Are you judging their hosting costs on how much it actually costs Google to add more in their already existing data centers for YouTube like a good vertically integrated monopoly or are you judging their hosting costs on how much their google cloud bill would be. You’ll get wildly different numbers depending on the method.

I just can’t imagine who will pay for that sort of reach. It’s incredibly expensive for self hosting operations like TikTok. I’d imagine it’d be outrageous without a CDN.
